I’ll start with the fact we haven’t been for a while, this being because last time we came we had an awful meal. But years on we returned on Father’s Day. After being show to our table we went to the bar to order our food.. to be told the chicken platter was off and they couldn’t do it (would of been nice to be told this whilst being seated as most restaurants do) anyway wasn’t an issue we ordered a meat platter and a mix grill skillet and was told there was a 30 to 45 minute wait on food. Again this is fine (but honestly no more than 4 tables in at this point) food arrives 40 minutes after ordering.. plater comes out with bits missing! After notifying Dan H he replied with “what’s missing?” I mean for a staff member to not know the menu is beyond me. He then went back to the kitchen and returned with only the beans and was told there was no coleslaw and then asked us “if we want any sauce as a substitute” 🤣🤣 We asked for onion rings instead in which he froze and just walked off with no reply. Any how on to the mix grill, chips were cold and gammon was raw and still cold and just all round poorly presented, i went to the bar to get this rectified and a nice lad came over and took it away straight away and said I’ll get it sorted. 10 minutes later the mix grill reappeared this time it was piping hot and look good.. but unfortunately on this one the steak was so tough I couldn’t eat it at all. They did offer to get me a drink or a pudding on the house which was nice and they did rectify it straight away. I feel some of the staff could do with some training around dealing with things like this as it wasn’t very professional at all.

As for the facility the toilets absolutely stunk and not very clean at all. Safe to say we will not be back anytime soon, but thanks for reminding us of why we haven’t been...

A group of 8 of us went last Sunday after going previously and the food being lovely. The bar service was extremely slow even though there wasn't queues. There was only one member of staff on who was very slow. The food came out and looked lovely but with most of us having the mixed grill, unfortunately it was awful. The steak was tough as anything and the chicken made those who ate it very poorly later that evening. Also a side dish came out incorrectly and when we explained the order must have been put through wrong the waitresses attitude was to get the receipts and rudely ask 'Do you wanna see? It wasn't ordered!' She had dark hair and was middle aged.. no idea on her name as they dont wear name badges probably for this reason, but has a serious attitude problem! 40 minutes after finishing the waitress finally cleared the plates not bothering to ask why most meals were left and possibly strategically took them so quickly nobody could comment about how poor the meals were. We ordered deserts and one of the sharer ice cream was taken to the table next to us even though they explained they hadn't ordered it. When we asked where the deserts were, all but one of the sharers arrived. The waitress clearly said in front of us that the table next to us had been given ours by mistake but then lied to us saying it was in the kitchen. By the time it came out everyone else had finished their deserts and not even an apology was given. There really isn't anything good about the place. The food is awful, the staff are worse and the place is abismol! Avoid...

I went with my partner for a third visit to the Ami Inn.My first visit with my son was excellent ...so I took my partner shortly after which turned out to be a disaster which was disappointing after telling her it had been.n so good . The portions of food were extremely small and it was most certainly not value for money. This was a lunchtime visit.

I decided it could have been the lunchtime visit that might have been the problem. We arrived about 7 clock to find it fairly busy...several people were waiting at the bar to be served or placed at their table. The poor girl serving was trying to serve customers at the bar, seat booked customers, collect plates, move tables to seat several new customers. ..we had been seated only to find we had to move to accommodate the several new arrivals. A guy then came to the front of the queue to get drinks....we waited for a while but decided to leave...the poor girl at the bar was obviously under pressure.I approached the manager and expressed my opinion about the workload of the staff and being fair he was very apologetic and offered us a free drink while we waited but it was already gone 8 clock and we needed to eat. We never got the chance to order food...and while I think the initial visit was good...there seems to be a serious issue with staffing. Obviously first impressions count for a lot...and sadly after a second bad experience we will not be visiting again....the food looked good but the waiting...

This place used to be packed on a Saturday evening, that's why I was concerned when we arrived and it was half empty. Do not come here for the Steak. The portions they serve you are insulting, especially the chips. I hope the miniscule number of chips put on our plates was worth the 1/5 rating. The steaks are not cooked how you want them (I wanted rare, it was not even medium rare), and the quality is not good, it was full of nerves and very chewy. Not to mention, the atmosphere outdoors was absolutely awful with loud booming music in the garden and screaming drunk people. After finishing our meals and still being completely hungry, we thought we would try and salvage the situation by ordering a garlic breaded mushrooms, this too was a tiny portion and poor quality. Absolutely not worth the expensive prices.

Searched for a place to eat nearby after a disastrous experience with another pub we tried to visit, as we're not from the area. But glad we found it as we received great service, a warm welcome, friendly staff, and great tasting food. There was 10 of us dining. We didn't wait long for food to be delivered to the table. Everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. Great value priced! Certainly will visit again, I'd make a special trip from Birmingham to eat here again. Pub was clean and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Thank you so much for the short notice booking. If you want 5 star service then book yourself a table.

The sign outside very clearly states: “Kids eat FREE – 18th July to 5th Sept” with no mention of any restrictions. However, when we went in, we were told the offer does not apply at weekends. Nowhere on the advertisement does it say this. This is misleading and completely contradicts what is being advertised. If there are limitations, they should be made crystal clear on the sign itself, not hidden away once you’re already inside. For me, it’s not about the money — kids’ meals are cheap enough anyway. It’s about the principle. Don’t advertise one thing and then change the rules afterwards. That’s misrepresentation.
