If I could rate this less than 1/5 stars I would.
I visited this restaurant around December 2023 previously with friends, and the service was slow but the food was great so we thought we would give it another go for our friends birthday in March 2024. The March 2024 visit is what I am basing this review off.
As expected the service was slow, we had to ask twice to be served for drinks. Then once we had our drinks we had our drinks we had to ask again to be served for food. We were met with the response “we will have to check if the kitchen is ready to take another food order first”. Strange but ok, they then took our order about 10 minutes later.
Starters no problem, slow to receive but good food. Mains took a long time to come out but when they eventually did a lot was wrong. I ordered a starter size of a risotto and my friend ordered a main size of the risotto but without tomatoes. When this arrived we had the same size portion even though we were paying different prices and hers had tomatoes in. She asked for them to be removed and they returned with a small sized portion of risotto. We explained I had ordered the smaller size risotto and she ordered the larger sizes but without tomatoes. They quickly rectified the issue and my friend had a main size risotto and I kept the meal I was given.
The next issue arose when my friend, who is pescatarian, was eating her seafood tagliatelle. As she got to the bottom of the dish she found chorizo sausage in her dish. She therefore couldn’t eat anymore and felt quite upset that she could have eaten meat and not realised previously when enjoying the dish.
Another issue was with the steak ordered. It was asked to be cooked medium rare but looked like it was still mooing on the plate. This member of our party did not complain as he couldn’t be bothered to ask again for help after he’s dish arrived much later than everyone else’s.
When the waitress came to collect our plates she said she will not be able to refund the seafood tagliatelle or the steak as it was mostly eaten (absolutely fine) but we requested to speak to a manager. She tried for 10-15 minutes to try and call a manager but was unable to get hold of him. This was met with the response “he might be with his children”. Ok, but who is in charge of the restaurant when he is busy? What if there is an emergency in the restaurant and he’s is required to be present. This is not very good for the staff.
The waitress was apologetic, we explained this is not your fault but poor management and organisation from above you.
We paid the bill and left. We sat down at our table 19:30pm we did not leave until 22:30pm. 3 hours due to a delay in service ultimately, 45 minute wait to be asked if we would like to order drinks.
Overall, management have a lot to answer for. Service is poor it is understaffed and not even that busy. It’s a shame because the food is nice but it is not worth the shambles of trying to get served, wait for food and then for it to be completely wrong and not the correct dietary...

Read moreRight up until the end my experience with this restaurant was amazing, the food was nice, waiter/chef was very kind, and the overall atmosphere was hugely cozy and welcoming.
But while I don't normally post negative reviews of restaurants, I feel like I need to provide this warning. Right as we (me and my mates) were eating our starters a man across the floor from our table yelled out about finding live maggots in his salad, and upon seeing his plate when the waiter/chef came and checked, he was not lying or exaggerating at all.
Everyone in the restaurant immediately left at that point. Those of us who hadn't paid were allowed to leave without paying and refunds were given to those who had paid, the seemingly only staff member on shift was very apologetic also.
It's a shame because they were clearly understaffed (hence the waiter and chef being the same man) and the atmosphere was truly very nice, but it goes without saying that someone finding live maggots in their salad is disgusting and unacceptable. Whilst it's possible this was a one off occurance, I won't be taking that chance if I'm in town again, and I can't really in good consience recommend this place to anyone because of that.
I sincerely hope this was just a slip up and whatever caused this was immediately dealt with, but unless there's any definitive proof this has been sorted by the time you read this review, I'd avoid...
