Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Tandridge

ZERO PEOPLE SKILLS. I left this coffee shop today feeling belittled and disappointed. Having just moved to area and loving Costa coffee I thought I’d walk my little dog into the village and have a coffee. I entered the shop with my dog having looked for a ‘no dogs allowed’ sign on the window. Couldn’t see anything. I walked in and immediately spoke to a nice girl who was cleaning and asked if I picked up my dog (3kg!) if I could order my drink and wait outside with her. The member of staff said she was new but couldn’t see it being an issue. Before I could get to the counter to check with another member of staff, I was barked at from over the counter ‘saying no dogs allowed!’. This women was incredibly unfriendly and rude. She thought it wise to tell me off in front of other customers before I could even open my mouth. I explained that I could carry her and just wanted to order. I was ordered to tie my dog outside if I wanted a drink. I’m sorry, but the outside of this branch has less than 2 foot of pavement and Is on a busy road. I love my dog and putting her safety above a coffee is ridiculous. I strongly recommend that Costa HO conduct some customer service training at this branch. Safe to say I won’t be going back after this...

Shockingly grubby Costa coffee shop in Lingfield. Our table was filthy with ketchup on the rim and coffee puddles on the top. Noone came to clean it and my wife had to ask for towels to clean it. There were fruit flies all over the cakes. The lady serving the coffees knocked a load of lids into the floor on customer collection area. A customer picked them up and gave them back to her. You could see her first thought was to throw them straight into the bin, but no, she turned away from the bin and put them all on a plate on the side - no doubt to stack them back up with the other lids once customers who had seen it had all gone so that there wasn't any issue with being challenged on wastage. Windowsills, tables, chairs and floor all incredibly grubby which given we are in middle of covid 19 outbreak is a very sad sight to see that this branch clearly do not give high importance to cleanliness.

Avoid this place like you...

One star for this one, won't be visiting again for sure. 7.30am 23rd December shop was empty didn't actually look like anyone was working but turned out there was a bloke sat on a stool low down behind the counter. Ordered a flat white was going to use a free coffee I have on my account as I usually visit garages and use the Costas machine. Anyway, no phone signal, WiFi wouldn't work so ended up paying cash. While waiting for the coffee I noticed several dirty milk jugs on the counter. Can't have been from that morning, shop had hardly been open must've been from the day before. Pretty disgusting really on top of that the whole shop area was just messy and dirty looking. To top things off ten minutes later and about 5 miles away by this time turns out that the coffee had that horrible milk starting to turn taste. What a hideous...
