Social is a beautiful restaurant, bar in the heart of Newton with lively interesting decor (I would share pictures but wouldn’t want to spoil your wandering eyes when you go) and a lovely view of the clock tower. Social stands on its own merits in regards to the food and drinks. Unique to Newton in that food of this quality is not readily available. Lia was a very bubbly and lovely host. Despite us walking in 10 minutes before kitchen close was happy to take our order with a smile. She also gave the perfect amount of interaction in regards to check ins taking orders and leaving us to have our own conversations. The drinks were also exceptional and original in that we’ve not seen them before in the picture left is Royal English Breakfast and while small was packed with flavour. On the right and close you see the poppy seed sour which was also divine but not at all as I expected it to taste. The food was really the stand out. The steak was cooked perfectly and the garnishing chips, and veg was very tasty and fresh. I also opted for the garlic prawns which were sensational in taste. The pizza was also very nice, albeit slightly heavy on the cheese but this is just a preference of my partner and something to note for next time. Overall the price is slightly more than a typical pub grub which is available close by but very in line with other sit down restaurants nearby. To put this into perspective the pizza was £15 and the steak and additional prawns £25 roughly. Drinks were 2 for £16. However the quality was extraordinary so if you were to ask me between picking paying an extra £10-£20 in comparison to somewhere like wether-spoons, it’s entirely worth it to go to Social. We will be back. Karl and Lucy.

First visit to social kitchen for brunch. Delicious food. Had the poached eggs with bacon and avocado on FRESH sour dough. Taste and present spot on. 10/10. Tasty flat whites paired with a delicious cannoli. Service could not be faulted. Amazing service from Heather who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and spent time to chat with us. Hugely friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be back for the pancakes and bottomless brunch! Heather also recommended the steak burger for our visit! Cannot wait to dip everything in cheese!

Leah's exceptional service at the restaurant made our experience. Her attentiveness and fun demeanor was welcome. Combined with the delectable tapas, her excellent service enhanced the overall enjoyment of our meal. We look forward to returning. This was my second visit. I live locally and for anyone visiting the area or not been out for a while - I highly recommend you take a visit. The Tapas is amazing and the cocktails are unique. All tasty! Dogs are also welcome during the day. 👍🏻

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Memorable Dining Experience at Social Bar & Kitchen

Social Bar & Kitchen exceeded all expectations and delivered an experience that was both heartwarming and unforgettable. Nestled within a charming historic building in the heart of Newton Abbot, the venue’s whimsical decor and thoughtfully curated ambience provide an immediate sense of comfort and character. Whether seated indoors or enjoying the outdoor space, the atmosphere is quaint, inviting, and beautifully reflective of the care invested in every aspect of the restaurant.

Our visit was a long-overdue reunion among friends following some challenging times, and the experience couldn’t have been more fitting. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and professionalism of Lia Cameron, who manages the restaurant helped graciously set the tone. Lia is a true asset to the establishment; her charisma, hospitality, and natural charm not only elevate the experience but also foster genuine connection. It’s easy to see how her presence has contributed to the venue’s loyal following and its well-deserved recognition, including the prestigious 'Gold Hospitality Restaurant Award' for 2024/2025.

The food was another highlight. We enjoyed perfectly cooked burgers, golden chips, crisp onion rings, and a decadent dessert duo of rich brownie and their indulgent in-house cookie dough ice cream. The cocktails were expertly mixed and balanced, flavourful, and beautifully presented. The quality and boldness of the flavours easily rival many of the more well-known establishments throughout Devon.

We were also impressed by the attentive service from Lia Cameron, whose professionalism and friendly demeanour added another layer of excellence to our evening.

With convenient parking just a short 2-minute walk away and a venue that blends history, design, and culinary finesse, Social Bar & Kitchen is more than worth the visit. This is not just a place to eat, but a place to reconnect, celebrate, and savour a truly...

Absolutely amazing, the food was perfection. I got a chicken burger and added the burnet end brisket then, I upgraded the chips to the burnt end brisket too. The triple cooked chips were fantastically crispy and fluffy, the onions ring were lovely, crispy while not burning the onion in the middle. The cocktail was fantastic i got a strawberry bellini spritz (with out prosecco and with lemonade), It tasted just like a strawberry slush. The staff were superb i brought two little ones with me and the staff were interactive and playing even with the little ones the atmosphere was chilled out and laid back, I didn't feel like I had to keep the kids in line and keep our voice down ( but for the most part we were the only patrons which is crazy) accessibility wasn't great, you have to use the stair case to get up to social (second floor estabilshment) or stay outside over all, i really could not find fault here everything was just perfection and what we were looking for with...
