Monday 5-9 is buy 1 get 1 free on Gourmet Burgers. I had a Cap'n Ahab. This was a crab and lobster with onion rings fries coleslaw and a salad garnish. The coleslaw was a nice mix of mayonnaise and red cabbage. The garnish was nice enough and had plenty of balsamic vinegar on it. The burger itself was a fishcake. It tasted reasonable and had a decent texture to it. I don't suppose I was expecting it to be like that ; I guess I thought I'd be getting fresh crab and lobster meat. But overall it was nice. My fiancee had a Mexican which was pretty hot. She found the burger a bit chewey. The top of the pub has what looks like a real fire. It's cosmetic only. It was too cold there and we had to move down to where there were some radiators. We had a pint of Bulmers and a pint of Butcombe and the bill was £19.40 which is reasonable...

One of possibly the worst pubs in Newton. Overpriced for a start where everywhere else serves pints at £4.50 or lower this one likes to charge over £5 for one pint. The DJs are atrociously bad, can’t mix, don’t take requests and are rude when you ask. The bar staff some are lovely, however that’s outweighed by poor management and a lack of care with establishment. The owner seems not to care about keeping what could be a very good venue in check and cares more about how much money he takes home in his back pocket. My advice don’t bother. And one more point the owner seems to employ people who just cause problems but doesn’t seem to rectify this by employing decent, friendly members of staff and pouring money in where they need to as an establishment. Can't fault there burgers...very good! My only niggle is the quiz. We often go on a Tuesday for their quiz but have noticed the music rounds are being 100% correctly won by groups of kids. I'm not 'dissin' the kids but there's no way they can answer all of the music round completely. My suspicions are they are Shazaming these rounds. Last night the same happened with a young team right in front of the quiz master and he wasn't at all bothered when we alerted him, they were sat right in front of him and he should be noticing if this is happening. I was there with a dj and I'm not bad at music but there were some songs that were very difficult. It's not sour grapes but I just feel that it ruins a good quiz by what appears to be obvious cheating.....and the quiz master should...
