My brother and I came for a quick Sunday meal with my 9 month old. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, made us feel at home. Has recently had a refurb and change of management - so nice and clean and well kept, but still had a slightly shabby chic vibe and a nice atmosphere. Cricket was on in the background with a bit of low music - which was nice. They had a couple of decent high chairs (the basic IKEA ones - we have these as home, they're great). Ordered a couple of burgers and beers, both were really good and came reasonably quickly - not too quickly, so had time for a chat which was nice. Staff were happy to give me a jug of warm water to warm baby food up with and took time to wave and smile with the baby, which was very cute. Only one small point - would be great to have some baby changing facilities in the men's toilets / disabled. But they did offer to block off the ladies for me to change my child, but there were quite a few families in, so didn't seem fair. They were fine with me changing a nappy on the floor and understood the need. Not a massive issue, but perhaps a thought for us Dads. Overall though - really nice family pub with great staff and tasty food. Perfect for a casual meal out. Would...
Read moreA missed opportunity to make some money after Lockdown!!! 6 of us booked a garden table looking forward to a meal and several pints! The weather was dry and sunny, every table full, over 150, maybe 200 people. The pub looked prepared, Track & Trace QR Code Checkpoints etc. A new decked area, a tented covered area and large grassed area. Drinks were ordered, all started well... WE then tried to order food as did may others. The pub was woefully under staffed, empty glasses started to 'pile up' on many tables. It then became difficult to reorder and get more drinks, waiting times very long!! We got feedback that 'the kitchen' was 'having a melt down', "we can't cope with the pressure! We didn't expect so many people!" We heard that burgers were getting burnt and couldn't be served! We only saw one person get a burger, they had waited ONE HOUR!! Eventually news, "Sorry we can't offer food any more."!!! After three hours we had leave HUNGRY!! We would have had far more Pints and spent loads of CASH on food etc. as would many others!
With better management and more staff, this pub would have made a small fortune!!! Many other pubs would have done so, given the opportunity and all that...
