The rules have obviously been relaxed. We were disappointed that the only tables available had not been cleared, but as we could'nt see any alternatives we decided to sit down anyway. I went to the counter to place our order and was surprised when the young lady behind the counter put her hand up and told me to wait, not in a very welcoming manner. Eventually I placed our order and returned to the still uncleared table. This was rectified when our order was brought and although cleared, the table was not wiped down. This is a dog friendly establishment but we not impressed when the young man that had served us started petting a dog that had just entered the cafe. He went behind the counter and got a biscuit for the animal, and then continued talking to it and petting it. The animal obviously pleased with the attention started to lick his hands. We noted that upon returning to the counter the young man did not wash his hands but instead immediately went to the coffee machine and started making coffee for another customer. I am surprised that this level of disregard for public health has gone unnoticed by the management. We have visited this cafe several times and service and cleanliness has always been exemplary but after this last visit we will not be...
Read moreTo start with the staff were exceptionally nice. However, being a connoisseur of coffee I'd have to say that the coffee served isn't a good blend. It has a bitter after taste which is consistent with cheaper products. The milk was at the right temperature and the barista added a nice design on top. My wife had a hot chocolate and found it to be sickly sweet. Maybe a choice of not so sweet could be given? She noticed that all the sweet accompaniments looked to be far too sweet and that usually means white sugar. Anyway, she opted for a scone with butter. I had a little as well and it was, too be honest, a little stodgy. Anyway, I'm being truthful here. I'm also aware that negative reviews affect businesses, but they can also affect positive changes too. Here's hoping that the profit motive here can in the future can be overridden by one of more quality. As things stand we would...
Read moreWe are all aware of having to sign in when entering some premises. But whoever's the Man was that approached us on entering was the most obnoxious person I've ever met. We were just checking out the seating and were pounced on to fill out the details. I mentioned that my Husband was doing it and was told I had to do it also. As our details would be the same I didn't see the reason why, as I'd never done so anywhere we'd been before. He was saying it's the Law and he would get fined £5000 pounds if we didn't. It is actually £500. But thet was not the issue. It was his manner. We walked out feeling humiliated like children being told off. We actually found a much better coffee shop a short walk down the road with much better customer service. I would no way reccomend this...
