Archie's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Thanet

We drove from Ashford to experience the ultimate massive Fish & Chips platter that someone uploaded on social media. Unfortunately, when we got there we were told that a fish that size has to be ordered 1 day in advance.

They offer cod, haddock, sausages, desserts, etc. My husband ordered the large fish & chips (haddock) and I ordered the medium fish & chips (haddock). As you can see in the pics, these are pretty big sizes of fish. Not usually found in your typical fish shops. The platters were served with salad (iceberg lettuce, red onions, tomatoes).

We were greeted by Natalia who was absolutely lovely and cheerful. We were also greeted by the owner Alex who was very pleasant and who told us about the big fish experience, when to stop by, and the busiest days (Thursday-Sunday).

My husband who's Black British rates the food 4/5. I'm from the US and our fish tend to be more on the seasoned side as well as our chips. As such, I would rate it a 2/5 for taste. 5/5 for sizes of the fish.

If you're a lover of fish and chips, then Archie's in Ramsgate is the place for you. You can even go across the street to "Hair of the Dog" get a beer or cider and bring it over to Archie's with no hassle...that's definitely a plus and we did.

Brilliant food, lovley family run business, very friendly very hospitable felt like home from home ,food was lovley big portions all cooked fresh, The area has road works at the min so it's a bit tricky to get too.but well worth checking out, The are more then enough food places and shops and pubs in the area, But we came for fish and chips and that's exactly what we got ,we had some freebies Inc so very very nice and totally unexpected. we will go back and take the children very soon for a meal in the restaurant it's nice modern and child friendly. you won't be disappointed If your looking for a good traditional fish and chip meal. prices were pretty much the same as anyware else ,but food was cooked to perfection and the cod was good and a good size .There are some meal deals to be had at certain times of the day so well worth checking them, once you arrive. They do skate, which is quite a find , and sword fish and a few other bits I hadn't expected to see on the menu, you have a choice of mushy peas or curry sauce well worth a visit you won't be disappointed and the lady who served us was very very nice and very surprised we came all the way from maidstone just to check them out. 10/10 archies, thank you very much. we loved the food and the...

The team tries hard to serve delicious food. Decent size of chips and fish served with freshly prepared salad. Overall, customer service is good. People, who visit the place need to manage their expectations and leave their attitude behinds.

If you are after traditional tasty fish and chips then this place is great for a decent price. If you expect 5 star customer service and arrive with complaining attitude demanding unrealistic things and being unreasonably rude, seriously go somewhere else.

We need to remember what goes behind the scenes of actually preparing the food and serving it. Most people don’t think this way and expect everything for nothing.
