Hot Wood Pizza — Restaurant in Thanet

This place is a hidden gem and most people I’ve spoken too haven’t heard of it ..well now your about too . Top tier pizza from the guys at hotwood pizza !! Firstly the vibe was cool , packed restaurant with a great atmosphere. So i ordered the garlic bread I believe it was , mac and cheese and the pepperoni pizza . Firstly the garlic bread which was tasty as hell , dough cooked perfectly lovely char around the she’s and under carriage , but I do think the level of garlic can definitely be taken up a couple notches as when I have garlic bread I like it strong that’s just my personal preference and maybe a good drizzle of some garlic butter on before serving as it was a tad try (very tasty though ) I’m just thinking with my chef brain of what can it needs to elevate it further . Next up the mac and cheese …wow !! Show stopper this phenomenal mac and cheese and the cheese pull didn’t disappoint either one of the best Mac’s I’ve ever had . Lastly the pepperoni pizza .suplime pizza every bite was a joy and it just put a smile on my face , from the sauce to the dough to the bake of the dough .top tier pizza . If you haven’t been here and live in Thanet or kent your living under a rock , I certainly would recommend you book a table ! Another pizza gem in planet Thanet !!. Stayed in a local air bnb and walked to this pizza place. Decor and ambience is nice. Bit sloppy on service is only complaint. We went in at 7pm on a Saturday and hadn’t booked. Waitress said could we sit at window bench and we assumed more people would be coming that had reserved as it was a Saturday. So fair enough we thought. But we were in there until 9pm And half the tables remained empty. Would’ve been nice to sit at a proper table given the place was half empty. We ordered drinks and our pizzas. After 20 mins waiting we had to ask the waitress where our drinks were and she went off and 3 mins later came back with them even though we could see here standing at counter not doing anything for most of that time. We also ordered starters of garlic bread and olives, and Although they were superb they came out after 30 mins but then our pizzas came out 5 mins later. We had only just started our starters. Would’ve been nice to actually finish our starters before pizzas came out. That said, notwithstanding, the pizzas were Superb and really tasty. So food 5/5, service needs some refining so. 3/5. but waitress was pleasant and attentive enough that said. Just needs those final touches to...

The food was delicious, excellent pizza. I had a margarita, and my wife had mushroom and gorgonzola (and I had a slice of hers). Both were absolutely delicious, and not unreasonably priced. I did however take issue with ordering a black coffee and being presented with the worlds smallest espresso. There was so little coffee in the cup I don't think it would constitute a sip. You could collect all of the coffee on the end of a cotton bud and still have cottony room to spare. And £2.60 for a diet coke, to then be presented with a can, is a bit of a joke. Also, I feel the service could've been better. Wait staff did not check in at any point, and when it came to paying the bill they were very difficult about splitting the bill (there were 5 of us in the party and we wanted to pay seperately). The waitress was flummoxed, and then the chef told us to do our own maths if we wanted to pay separately. I am capable of addition, but surely it's not hard to split the bill for us if we ask.
