Review: Disappointing Experience with Unfulfilled Promises

I visited this Indian restaurant with high expectations, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The food was underwhelming and tasted far from authentic Indian cuisine. It lacked the characteristic bold spices and flavors, instead tasting bland, overly buttery, and reminiscent of a British interpretation of Indian food. We tried one vegetarian dish and two meat dishes, but neither were satisfying. Even the rice tasted oddly sweet and buttery, which was unexpected and unpleasant.

The food, however, wasn’t the biggest issue. Upon receiving our bill, we realized that our order had been mistakenly charged twice. While this was likely a misunderstanding, it was frustrating nonetheless. We addressed the matter with the staff, and they assured us that the error would be corrected. Despite following up in person the next day and being promised a refund, five months have now passed without any resolution. Communication has ceased entirely, and we are left without the refund we were assured.

It’s truly unfortunate, as this could have been resolved with a simple gesture of accountability. The lack of follow-through reflects poorly on the management and their customer service standards. Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on...

Shocking service and attitude! We ate here as a group of 6 women last night and from start to finish we were met with rudeness. The staff almost shrugged our custom off and passed us from staff member to staff member, we were then dictated to about how we order our food and again, were being spoken to extremely rudely! We then finished our meal and wanted to pay our bill.. what an experience! We were wanting to pay part cash and part card but were told by the manager/owner that it would complicate his taxes too much and we had to either pick cash or card!! We offered to pay a tip out of courtesy, but the response given was ‘don’t bother, I don’t get any tips on the card reader’ We were then told we were unable to pay £19.88 and had to round it up to the nearest number.. Recently myself & my husband from London went to the Recency for the first time with friends who live in Westgate, who invited us down. The food was delicious 😋😋. I would love to give 4+ but I couldn't as I think the staff & manager could brush up on their customer service skills.Notonce did the staff welcome us or talk to us. I tried to establish eye contact and smile with them but myself and husband might as well have been invisible, apart from when I clarified something with the manager about my order .They seemed to be very fixated on our friends who live there..with plenty of banter going on..
