Paul's Bar & Bistro — Restaurant in Thanet

I have recently moved to Westgate and taking the time to discover it’s hidden gems. On Tuesday we decided to try Paul’s Bar and Bistro as it’s online menu looked amazing. Unfortunately we never got to try the food. The waitress asked us to take a seat as we walked in, which we did, 15 minutes and a couple of refills for other customers later, we asked if we could see the menu to which she responded once again that she will bring it to us, so we waited. Another table came in in the meantime, they received their menu and had their order taken straight away. After 35 minutes I asked the lady if we could please see the menus. She turned around, approached aggressively and screamed at us that it is not her fault she’s constantly under staffed and that we must stop being this rude. I’m not sure whether it hit me more as a customer or as a general manager of a restaurant in Canterbury however I can’t say I’ve ever been screamed at before for asking for a menu. When we told the waitress we won’t be staying she simply responded ‘fine, go then’. Truly speechless. I’m not sure whether this is the standard at this Bistro as this was my first time visiting however I will not be taking the chances and coming back again. Popped in for a drink was greeted by a young girl chomping chewing gum who didn’t know what lager was when we asked what they have on tap she went is that moretti or something? Ended up going in and ordering paying nearly £7 for a pint that was a quarter foam (asked for less head but was told the pumps are strong?! Yet a regular had a nice normal poured pint!) just before leaving I decided to use the toilet to be greeted with the chef running out of the kitchen to chase the bar staff around felt like a nursery! Always INCREDIBLE food. Always OUSTANDING customer service. Always IMMACULATELY clean.

I just absolutely love this place, and the atmosphere is like nothing I've seen before; Chefs are always on highest levels of delivering mouth drooling dishes, Bartenders and Barmaids are always spot on, and Waiting Staff customer service levels are just sky rocket high and yet so down to Earth, so kind and so friendly!
