The Beano Cafe — Restaurant in Thanet

I've done Newington Road Beano a disservice by not reviewing them sooner than this. Time to put that right.

I've been going to this cafe now for roughly 8 years. So I think the first important thing to say is - in all this time, eating there on average around once a month, I have never had a bad meal at this establishment.

The staff are always friendly. Service is always prompt. Not a single bad thing to say about those aspects.

The food... I go to this cafe when I'm in a bad mood to cheer me up. When I want a Full English to start the day properly. This food makes me happy without fail.

The bacon? That perfect point of done where the fat has caramelised but the meat is still meaty. The fried eggs - almost always runny enough to get some yoke over my toast - wonderful. The mushrooms - fried to perfection but never in my opinion too greasy which is often a problem in my experience elsewhere. Hash browns, lovely and crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. Beans, always properly piping hot. And black pudding! Perfectly cooked, slightly crisp exterior while still being soft inside.

Although I don't have it often the bubble and squeak is decent too.

But yes. This is my favourite cafe. The only thing that annoys me at all is a silly clock on the wall with some things as numbers some as words and random lines through some of the words... Yea I'm reaching here just to find something not perfect.

I love this place. Thank you for making so many of my days happier than they would...

I must say I'm not normally the biggest fan of a beano. But I'm pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food is at this one. It's run by a lovely family who are warm an welcoming when you arrive. The breakfasts are cooked to perfection and in good time too. I've recently tried other things on the menu like the jacket potatoes, of which are humongous and stacked full of filling with a lovely fresh salad. Today I had the chicken kebab with rice and salad. I'd say it was better than most kebab shops in thanet, with the taste, portion size and produce. Keep up...
