Fox & Hounds — Restaurant in Three Rivers

I attended the pub today and was appalled by the service of one of the members of staff. Me and my girlfriend attended to watch the England game and was quickly greeted with a dirty look off of the barmaid and that was just us walking through the door. She then walked over and said “you two got ID” which fair enough she has every right to, however it was her tone and to not even say hello to your customers on arrival I believe to be very rude. I then asked for our drinks and she then followed again with the same stinking attitude of “specify if you want zero, diet or normal coke” when I couldn’t have been clearer with what I said. This then followed by “are you gonna come here and pay or not” which wasn’t necessary as I’m standing there with my card in my hand waiting for her and clearly know I’m going to pay and she can see that, to me she just enjoyed being difficult. After this my girlfriend followed with thank you so much in quite a sarcastic tone back which I believe to have been valid with how we were treated even though it may be wrong. After this, word for word this lady then followed with “someone is gonna get it in a minute” to her co-worker who awkwardly laughed as he could even see she was being difficult. She then proceeded to give us evils across the pub and when my girlfriend looked backed, she shouted across the pub “keep going little lady” when we had said nothing. We stayed silent as we won’t rise to pathetic behaviour from immature ‘adults’.

I am not usually one to write things like this but we are totally appalled and think this behaviour is rude and unacceptable considering we are just a young couple who are nice and good people who don’t deserve this kind of treatment especially when it is unjustified.

It wasn’t just what she said, it was how it was said and I think this lady needs to take a long hard look at herself before she starts trying to justify this type of behaviour to two people over half of her age.

We have nothing against this pub and we have been here multiple times with different staff on and have had a good experience. I am extremely disappointed and it has put us off...

Come here enough to know the wait times can be hit and miss with regards to food, but today was ridiculous enough to make us think twice in future. The food was lovely, but took an hour and 10 minutes to finally arrive, on what was a relatively quiet and half empty day, for a couple of pretty straight forward meals. Asked if it was going to be long on the hour mark (we weren't the only table asking about the wait on food) and was told sorry, and that it was because they have a slow chef today....by contrast my food a couple days earlier in a packed pub during the football came in half the time. We got apologies from the staff, and no real complaints there as they can't really do much else, but you'd think an offer of a drink or something for the wait would be standard Greene King process given the cost of doing so is like a drop in the ocean for a chain this big, to try and soften a poor experience. The feeling probably also wasn't helped either because we had to move tables to accomodate a larger group about half way in, which is understandable, but ended up with a small table in the corner or the pub, which wasn't the most comfortable sitting position, but was the only thing left available at the time without sitting on a small bar stool table by the front door. Definitely recommend the food but also definitely worth asking how long food is currently taking to come out whenever you visit,...

It’s disappointing to see what poor quality food we’ve been served. I’ve ordered 2 beef burgers cheese and bacon for me and my father and what we received really put me off. 2 sad and pathetic beef burgers, with no tomato or onion, and 10-15 fries, not chips, fries! Also on my father’s plate there was some burnt remains from the fryer! We luckily got a refund however the experience was upsetting nonetheless! 1hour after this experience and I’m still upset about this! I’m a local and I used to work in this pub 5-6 years ago as a chef and as a bar tender during my university. It’s just appalling what low standards they’ve got now and I won’t come back again even I live close by. I was looking forward to this pub being open again, but I don’t think I will come again.
