We had an evening meal at the Honeymoon for the first time a number of months ago when we moved into the area. The meal and the service in the packed restaurant were superb. I had one of the best Hot and Sour soups I've had in a long time, a perfect balance of ingredients and a well judged level of sourness that did not mask all the delightful flavours. The only disappointment was their special seaweed - too sweet. The helpings of food were far bigger than expected and so we over-ordered the food. That put the bill on the high side of what we would normally spend: it would have been enough for three people! My opinion is that the server should have warned us. For our return visit a few days ago we had a soup each and shared one main dish, all perfectly prepared. There were only three or four occupied tables that night so the service, by the owner, was just right and also quite entertaining. The menu is vast with the novel freedom to mix and match meat and preparation style. There are many restaurants in this area of town offering food of diverse ethnicity. This one is excellent and good value when you consider the size of the helpings. Street parking is not much of a problem (and free) after 6pm on week days. At weekends it is more difficult to find a space and perhaps better to seek spaces in a nearby...
Read moreThe Crispy beef in chilli sauce was amazing - a beautiful crunch, and the restaurant itself has a beautiful calm interior- HOWEVER, the rest of the food was lacking in flavour e.g. the special fried rice was greasy, lacking in flavour. The portion sizes weren’t great either. The service was one of worst experienced, although a ‘busy’ Saturday evening, servers had to be prompted to take our order, kitchen staff were constantly passing through the restaurant and half the servers were inappropriately dressed for the restaurant setting (trainers and cargo shorts!!). Our server discouraged us from ordering the ‘sizzler’ option for one of our dishes due to ‘being so busy’ - as well as eating in front of the dining customers. Beautiful restaurant, okay-ish food, but really unprofessional staff. ...
Read moreThe best Chinese in Tonbridge. It’s tasty, fresh and reasonably priced... and for Chinese surprisingly not all that greasy.
I’ve had better elsewhere, and don’t expect anything too fancy, but for a takeaway it’s a solid choice in my experience. And it’s better than the alternatives in the town.
If I could order via the web that would be great. You currently can’t. Trains are often not conducive to phone orders due to frequent cut outs in the approach from London. I’d certainly order more frequently for a quick pickup if this...
