For a Tuesday night the Hart Inn was reasonably busy. We had a warm welcome from bar staff, ordered drinks & were shown through to a very pleasant barn conversion type restaurant. Wide wooden floor boards & glass full height windows looking out onto the garden. The evening was October cool but staff were quick off the mark to make sure the heating was on at the nearest radiator which helped a lot. Food was nicely presented & plentiful portions. The (mini) Camembert starter was lovely but a bit too big for a starter! It could have done with more toast & pickle too. The mains were delicious although my chicken could have been more seasoned & for my taste, more sauce required! We pushed onto a pudding each but couldn’t finish it all! Overall I certainly recommend the Hart Inn. The staff were friendly and hospitable, the service was excellent & the food encourages another visit when we are next up that way. Go! I don’t think you’ll regret it. £70+ for the two of us for 3 course dinner &...

We popped in for a quick drink and saw amazing food passing us so ate the next night. Chicken pie and a Chilli. Both piping hot and tasty! Its a very dog friendly pub and the guys who own it were really friendly. They only took over at the start of August and I don’t think they could quite believe how busy it is. Food was so good we went back for Sunday lunch. So much food and again hot and tasty. Roast beef was rare and tender. Roast chicken juicy!. The décor is basic at the minute, I’m sure when they have a chance to stop and breathe they’ll start making it their own.

What I loved most was the balance between a laid-back, relaxed and high-quality food at reasonable prices. There were plenty of locals which is always a great sign. We would highly recommend The Hart to anyone in the area!

Good luck guys, I hope you make a fantastic success of your...

A meal of 2 halves. Arrived early doors for evening meal after a coastal walk. Lovely pub & pleasant staff. It was quiet with only a handful of diners at that time so I can't imagine the kitchen was rushed off its feet. I ordered catch of the day, sea bass, sautéed potatoes, salsa Verde (all great) however seasonal veg part of meal (broccoli and greens) I'm sorry to say was boiled grey and heated up, im guessing left over from some previous service, really disappointed as spoiled the meal. I did.mention it to waitress. £18.95 is not a cheap main so when a third of the plate is inedible it doesn't represent value for money no matter how nice the pub and staff are and I felt a bit of a tourist mug. Hope it was a one off, off day, shame it was at my expense.

We decided to book here as we noticed our destination, Hartland, was a relatively small area, with a relatively large audience. We walked in and asked to book, we were met with a smile; a warm welcome, and proceeded to book our meal for the following evening. The menu is not a vast one, but the choices are perfect. Homely food, real hearty grub! The service was quick and pleasant, the waitress was very jovial and made us feel welcome. The food was great, my steak was exceptional. A lovely place in a very quiet, yet also busy little village in north Devon.

We had a delicious Sunday lunch at the Hart Inn in the pretty village of Hartland. The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a good choice of real ales and ciders. We are real ale drinkers. The food was amazing. We had the Ruby red 8 hour slow cooked brisket which came with a good selection of vegetables. This is the best Sunday roast I've eaten out. I had banana split for dessert which I hadn't had in years. Yummy! We have ready booked a table again for later in the week. I highly recommend this beautiful Inn.

Stopped for a pint and lunch whilst visiting in the area. Lovely looking pub with a nice beer garden which has a small kiddies play area. Limited on ale options as only two which I thought might of been more considering the size off the pub. Food was very tasty and service was rather quick but I thought the food was over priced for what you got (£13.95 for the scampi and chips). If they had more local ale options and the food was better priced I would give it a 5 star.
