I am visiting Blanchflower, every weekend (I was-after what happened). With friends, with my partner or even on my own. This Sunday ,when the market was there, we went with my partner and out toddler for food. Everything was fine, coffee was nice as always, atmosphere nice as always , staff nice as always. Unfortunately when the food came she noticed a funny taste to the mushrooms of her plate, but we thought it was the combination of peas hollandaise on top of them. We finished our food, we were talking for a while, decided to have a cake and we ordered. After 20-30 min we had our cakes (delicious both of them) and after a while we left. We walked to the park (slowly as you can imagine with a toddler). After 10 min in the park my partner started to sweat and feeling funny. She had to leave for the closed bathroom. After half an hour, she called me saying she is in the car because she has been sick 3 times and she has to go home. To make story sort, we reached home , sorted her out (I am an icu nurse btw) and called the shop to inform them. I have asked for the manager and explained what happened. She said that it was not the food because it happened really quick and food poisoning needs 2 hours to show signs!!! She also said that she is not worried as nobody else called them for the same reason. That means that it would not have been just a bad single tray of mushrooms that happened to be served to us. That if something happened to 1 customer that they are calling you to let you know and not to ask something back , it is not as serious!
I was ready to answer back but I realised she won't understand as long as she answered like an ignorant fake-registered nurse!! 1 hour later our little girl started having diarrhoea, because she tried a mushroom as well. Maybe the expert "nurse" manager has an answer to that as it confirms her expert knowledge of relating time and food poisoning. I am really sad we had this experience, but if the manager was more concious and concerned about customer service and people, she would have taken it seriously. A good training about food hygiene and safety, maybe it will help for better...

Blanch flower is always our go to place for breakfast or lunch. Not just because it's a great breakfast, but the quality of home made goods, such as the hash browns on the breakfasts, the breads and the cakes speak volumes of the high standards you can expect from Blanchflower.
The staff in both stores are always so welcoming too! Never had a single visit to both the Altrincham or Sale restaurants where the staff weren't smiley and attentive. Some places don't see the importance of good customer service, but the Blanchflower staff are a credit to the owners.
Blanch flower is also a credit to the high street, amongst all of the mundane chain shops and huge corporate cafes dressed up as selling "hand crafted produce", they keep creating innovative dishes and producing great cakes and bakes.
You should be proud of all you have achieved...
Read moreBlanchflower is a brunch spot and bakery right beside the town centre in Sale. The atmosphere was lively and the decor was very modern. We wanted some brunch and wanted to try their vegan options. I had the vegan sweetcorn fritters with scrambled tofu. The fritters were delicious, garnished with loads of vegetable, herbs and some sauce making for a super colourful plate. The scrambled tofu was well cooked and seasoned and worked really well in the dish. I also had the parsnip lentil soup with wild garlic pesto and it was absolutely gorgeous! So rich and satiating, the wild garlic pesto really made it special. Overall the food is really flavourful with a decent selection of vegan options. We were served by Allie who gave us lots of great advice on what to order and instantly knew the vegan options from the menu. The service, food and atmosphere was brilliant so I would definitely advise anyone to come and try...
