The best lunch out that I've had in quite a while.
My husband and myself were visiting Sale for the maker's market today and decided to lunch at Roti for the first time. In a nutshell I can't think of enough wow! Words to describe the evidence. I haven't been this excited to find a new place to eat in a long time.
We were greeted and seated by a member of staff in seconds. The second we sat down a bottle of water was delivered to our table. This was replenished throughout our meal which we thought a simple but really nice rich. Tables themselves are set really nicely with metal tankards to drink from and metal plates. A member of staff then explained the menu to us as it was our first time here - menu is colour coded to identify vegetarian, seafood and meat dishes; dishes are tapas style so most people order more than one.
The menu itself is quite small but there were still several that appealed to me. There is also a daily specials board. We started by sharing a portion of poppadoms which came in a dish with peppers and several different dressings. I don't know how something as simple as poppadoms can be so tasty but I would happily have had these as a main course. They were so good. I went for a chickpea dahl (gorgeous) and the Kashmiri pork belly (wow! Incredible). The pork just melted in the mouth. My husband went for a potato aloo type dish and the chicken on the bone curry from the specials board. He raved about both. Prices were reasonable - averaged £7.00 per dish. The atmosphere was relaxed - not too cramped, music playing but not too loud. Service was good. As I said above, water bottle replenished throughout our meal. All in all a lovely dining experience. If you are in the Sale area and enjoy Indian style food you should give it a go. I'm definitely going back. Unfortunately, I'm not local. We were only in Sale for the market but plan to make it our routine whenever the market is on. I can't...
Read moreMy recent experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. On the positive side, I appreciated the opportunity to try out the restaurant during a trial shift, getting a glimpse of its atmosphere and operations.
However, I was left disappointed by the lack of communication from their end after the trial shift. Despite sending a follow-up email expressing my gratitude and interest in the position, there was no response, which made me question the professionalism within the workplace. As a potential customer, this left a lasting negative impression.
Additionally, I found the manager to be unfriendly and not welcoming during my trial shift. Instead of making me feel comfortable and confident, it seemed like he wanted me to make mistakes to justify rejecting me. This treatment was quite different from my previous experiences at other places.
As a fellow Indian, I had hoped to work with them, but the lack of kindness and communication led me to reconsider. Effective and timely communication is vital for any business, and it’s disappointing when that aspect is overlooked.
In conclusion, I wouldn’t want to work in an environment where kindness and effective communication are lacking. I hope the restaurant addresses these concerns to improve their professionalism and reputation in the future.
Oh btw. Stop saying I’m fake. I’m a student in Newcastle University doing postgraduation. My name is Krishnani Konwar. I’m doing MA International Relations. No competitor is trying to turnish your name. Lol. Own up to your mistakes. Your manager in Urmston is a horrible person. I’ve your emails as proof that I went there for a trial shift on 17th and 18th July.

Read moreBooked a table for 8pm a month or so in advance. We arrived slightly early (10-15) mins, the waiter that greeted us initially started seating us but the manager intervened and told us to leave and come back. We left and returned at 8pm, were ushered to the side while two tables for 4 were seated, despite having arrived before them. We were then told by the manager that they didn’t have a table for us as the couple on our table “were enjoying their night too much”. He offered us to get a drink or go somewhere else. We chose to stay at Roti and were sent to stand at the back of the restaurant by the coats and toilets, clearly obstructing the waiting staff. After 25 mins we were still waiting with no sign of a table, no one approached us to offer a solution or any apologies and we were then joined by a table for 3 in exactly the same predicament. They’d received a call from the manager requesting they come at 8:15 rather than 8pm as their table wasn’t ready either, yet they still ended up stood at the back after 8:15! We then chose to leave as all the tables for 2 were still eating. I have never known a restaurant just not have a table for you when you’ve booked in advance. The manager could not have cared less and made no attempt to free our table from the couple that had overstayed their welcome on the table we had booked. It appears they are more bothered about booking as many tables as they can rather than actually being able to facilitate them. If give it 0 stars if I could but google won’t let me. Appalling customer service, which I believe from other posts the manager is...
