We went there on new years day after reading all the good reviews. We were not disappointed at all. The food was very good no complaints on that what so ever. We had the mix platter for 2 as a starter and it had good portions of kebabs. They kindly offered to replace the onion bajjis with fish portions as well. One minor complaint from me personally would be that we ordered on dish that was mild for my little one and another dish tagged as "Fairly Hot" for ourselves. Normally when you go to an Indian restaurant, if it is hot or anything above, it would be really hot. But this fairly hot item was not hot at all. Even my little one had it. The taste was very good though except that the hotness was very mild. May be in future, if they could give an option to customize the hotness levels, it would be of great help.
Will definitely recommend to visit. Finding a place to park could be challenging as it is on a very busy road with no...
Read moreEssence has clearly proven to be one of those places with insensitive staff! The waiters in the restaurant paid no attention to our table. I guess you need to be white skinned to get their undivided attention. Because that clearly wasn't how the locals were being treated. It's sad that they fail to realise that dark skinned indians are paying customers too! To get a glass of water, to place an order, to wait for food/ bill - was all too painful as you had to sit for hours hoping that they'll realise your presence.. the restaurant clearly wasn't full and the staff weren't busy.. just fluttering around locals doing small talk when you sit there starving!
A place to visit if you're either white or an invertebrae! Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone even if this was the last restaurant left on this planet! An absolute waste of time and a...
Read moreUsed to be a regular here prior to the pandemic. Food wasn't amazing but consistent with good portions and the Sunday night meal 7 course meal deal was great. Staff have always been friendly and you could have a chat about football with the manager Amin who bizarrely is a Spurs fan!
Every single takeaway I've had since the pandemic has been awful, inedible and ended up throwing it in the bin. I assume they've got a new cook. The vegetarian mains used to have a good variety of vegetables, now every veggie curry I've ordered has been 90% onion 10% potato. I love onion but who wants an onion curry! Despite asking for hot curries there has been no spice, no flavour and curry drowning in 1/2 inch of oli. Sad to see how bad the food has gone. Given them a lot of chances but...
