Enjoyed a fantastic Sunday dinner at The Griffin, with generous servings of meats, rich gravy, and a towering Yorkshire pudding. The service today was excellent, attentive without feeling rushed. I would happily recommend this pub to anyone nearby. The menu offered plenty of tempting choices. Although it was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday, the quality of the food and service remained outstanding. The only slight disappointment was the potatoes, which lacked the same standard as the rest of the meal. That said, given how flawless everything else was, I am confident it was a one-off and suspect the abnormally peaceful pub was the reason for the dry potatoes. Nothing the delicious gravy couldn't handle though!

I've not eaten here. It's not why I'll visit a location like this. However on the few times I've been to Hale it has been the place I've chosen to go to. It's a traditional pub. Pleasantly decorated inside, nice selection of places to sit. Outdoor seating too. It's clean, and supplies what a pub should supply. A place to sit for a drink (or food) and spend informal social time with friends and family - or even for a business meeting. Parking is on site and hassle free unlike many nearby town centre locations that require a sat nav to find a parking spot unless you have good local area knowledge.

A pretty standard pub with a good selection of drinks and food on the menu. A very attentive server was the highlight as the lasagne was burnt underneath and had very little taste. Something needed to be put right as I’ve never seen blackened burnt pasta in a ceramic dish before. The pasta itself was over cooked and the meat bland and also lacking in quantity. Fix this. I never drew it to the lovely servers attention as there wasn’t much she could have done anyway and I wasn’t in the mood to argue.

Came here for a Sunday roast dinner with our 3 year old son. I am very close to having a baby and we thought it would be a nice treat to go out before I have a section and can’t do much. We booked a table for 4.30 arrived 5mins early and was seated. We weren’t offered menus or a drink order taken for almost 15mins. We then ordered food, starters and mains. We waiting for an hour and still not had our starters. My son was getting very hungry and more unhappy and my partner and I regretted even coming out. I asked how long and the starter was brought out. Then another 15-20mins and mains were out. The food was average and Luke warm but by this point we weren’t going to send back. We ordered trio of roasts and the beef was extremely rare (still mooing). There is rare then there is not cooked. Being pregnant I did not risk eating it. We were offered free desserts due to the wait. We ordered brownies and I ordered a cappuccino. The desserts came and as we had nearly finished the coffee came too. I decided I no longer wanted the coffee and just had enough and wanted to leave. I was annoyed and fed up. I had to go up and ask for the bill as we were just left. The desserts weren’t on the bill but the coffee was. I asked for it to be removed as I no longer wanted it. The reaction was as if I was the one in the wrong! I paid and we left! Over £50 for bad service, average cold food and a disappointment. Wish we had...

Absolutely exceptional service from Sebastian and Lara tonight.

Visited with 3 friends who all have very busy lives so once a month we like to have a catch up and this time we chose this old favourite we used to visit back in the day.

We’ve tried all the fancy places in and around the area over the last few years but tonight was something on another level.

That is by far the best evening we have had whilst going out for food in a very long time, if ever.

I’m involved in hospitality so I get the struggles, I understand the hardships on owners and businesses at the minute and I get how it can filter down to the staff morale. Uncertainty and pressure isn’t a great mix when your job is to put on a smile each and everyday.

The level of management shown this evening was absolutely outstanding. To be able to deliver that level of service and create such a warm, friendly and relaxed environment was remarkable.

Envious for us to the point we left considering offering job opportunities to the staff because the service we received was above anything we had received elsewhere.

Those staff just demonstrated that service, atmosphere and attentiveness go above anything else. Keep your 5 star, reservation only, award winning menus. I’d choose a night like tonight over anywhere else we’ve tried. So much so, we know where we are coming from now on.

Sebastian, don’t ever change.

Warwick, Dan, Claire...

First time for me visiting this establishment, at first glance, on the outside looks in need of updating. Trying to get inside from the carpark with a pram and disabled person is a no go, if there is one there was no disabled entrance open from the carpark, we had to go around to the front. Once inside we were met by a staff member who said there were a choice of tables we could sit at, we chose one of the booths. We sat down & the staff member gave us the menus & asked if we would like any drinks, which we ordered. After a short while we ordered our food. Food arrived fairly quickly. But baby decided he was going to wake up and wanted feeding, so mum took him out of the pram and pulled a chair from a near table to sit on as booth not conducive to breastfeeding a baby. But while she was sat on this chair she was getting wet from a leak in the ceiling and had to move. When we brought this up with the staff member she "oh yes we know". If you know then really you should have told us before we sat down. However the food was lovely and other than a hole in the ceiling the inside was clean and tidy. I hope this leak is repaired before we return again. Would I recommend - Yes! I would - just make sure the ceiling between the fireplace and the booth hasn't got a hole in it, if you've a baby you...
