Our first visit to La Filia yesterday for a family birthday. There were 12 of us and upon arrival was greeted by Luigi who took us to our table. On first impressions, the restaurant is lovely and cosy, nice décor and lighting and a lovely friendly greeting – We were welcomed and asked whether we’d been before, which we said, it was our first visit and my mother in law’s birthday. Luigi was super helpful in recommending dishes, going through specials with us. We all had a variety of food; starters King Prawns, which were amazing, ribs equally as amazing, Calamari, again really good. For mains, I had the Pappadella Toscana which was really good, other dishes calves liver which was a really good generous size, Risotto, Penne Salmone all really really good. As it was a birthday, Luigi very kindly brought out a cake and sparkler for my mother in law and sang happy birthday. Overall, I couldn’t fault the service or the food, I always love restaurant which feels personal, and it certainly did. We will most definitely be back soon and would highly...
Read moreWhat an amazing restaurant! Have lived in Altrincham all my life but never been here before..... and what a shame that is, as we've missed out on lots of opportunities to eat great food. The waitress (possibly the owner too) was friendly, welcoming and made some great recommendations from the specials board which we tried. For starters, the spicy meatballs were soft and full of flavour, and the chicken wrapped in savoy cabbage was fantastic too. The mains and deserts were equally good, and the house red was Primitivo... what more could you want! The best part is that they also do takeout, so when my wife couldn't finish her lasagne, they were happy to package it up for her to enjoy the following night. And the prices are extremely reasonable for both the location and the quality of the food. Really pleased we've found this gem of a restaurant and will be...

Sadly the food just wasn't as good as other italian restaurants in the area. I ordered caesar salad and the leaves weren't even correct. Instead of little gem/romain it was a mix of all kinds including lambs lettuce which had gone soggy with the hot chicken. It wasn't good at all. The prawns were expensive and if you look at another one of my recent reviews you can see the clear difference of the 2 dishes.... the prawns were served on orange slices which is just very 1980s in my opinion and did nothing to enhance the flavour of the dish. Sadly it...
