Have been to San Giavanni's many many times in the evening with my partner to enjoy a lovely meal and each time has been fantastic. Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. Because of this we made San Giavanni's our choice to enjoy a celebratory meal with seven other family members. We chose to go early on on a week night so we would not be taking up too much of the restaurant and they could have other customers in after ourselves. When arriving we were left at the table for a very very long time without any menus or drinks. When we did eventually have our order taken staff were very rude and were not listening properly. Food did not take too long and was lovely but we got offered no pepper, etc, Instead food got left on the table and the waiters walked away. We were all left with empty drinks when we all wanted more so I had to get up myself to ask whether it was possible to order more. When other customers started arriving we were yet again left and sat with empty glasses and plates on the table. We had brought a cake so we could all sing 'Happy Birthday' and that got left on the table with the box. Although we all wanted more drinks and deserts we felt we had to ask for the bill, and just get out of there. It was clearly not a problem for them as they never asked whether we wanted anything else. We paid up, and although we had been given horrendous service we still left a hefty tip in the wallet. Not once did a waiter come and thank us, they didn't even say goodbye to us. Its such a shame as it was clear early on arrival we had made a bad decision in choosing San Giavanni's for such a special occasion but also we will not be returning just the two of us either. All of our family members who had never visited San Giavanni's before this have also been put off. What a...
Read moreI first came to this restaurant two years ago for my birthday and was served the worst steak I have ever laid my eyes on. Raw spots where it hadn't even saw heat on the outside yet somehow well done on the bottom half inside and almost raw on the top side. Not to mention the Diane sauce it was served with was sickly sweet with a skin on top of it.
Fast forward to yesterday where despite promising I would never return I was invited to join my friend for their birthday. My waiter who I recognised from my last visit (I believe he is the manager) asked me what I would like to eat. I asked him if I could have the garlic bread with cheese and tomato, he told me "No you will have to have a margarita pizza". I said "But I don't want a margarita pizza, I want a garlic bread with cheese and tomato on top". He repeatedly denied my request another three times attempting to force me into the more expensive option and in the process making me feel very uncomfortable. After speaking to a few people I've found out he receives all the tips from all the waiters as he is management, that would explain his lack of regard for my well being.
If I could give this restaurant no stars I would, they can't cook anything above an average standard and their manager is rude and arrogant. I am absolutely amazed that this restaurant has such...
Read moreThis was such a disappointment. It gets load of reviews as best in Urmston etc and not be too mean but that title is definitely not justified in this instance. We had to wait in a tiny porch with a few other people for our table which meant zero social distancing. It took 20 mins to get seated after our booking time, starters were prompt and okay- both lacked a bit of something and the garlic bread was foul. Then a 45 minute wait for mains (no mention of the wait, no apology etc) then the food came. The pizza I had was good - it's not as good as a leoncinos/mulinos but it's better than Italian job, I'd put it below mama Maria's. We were given the garlic bread free as a gesture for waiting initially. NB staff - mixed. They sorted out the gluten free options for my wife but getting seated intially by the waiter was just painful- but other than that was nice enough - then midway through taking our order just wandered off to have a conversation elsewhere- just odd. The other staff were very pleasant. First and last time...
