I was so looking forward to eating in this place after reading other reviews. Didn’t eat all day to make sure I was hungry. Unfortunately it was a bit lacklustre. We booked a table for 19:30 and arrived on time. The table we were given was a table for 2 set just by the side of the bar. Unfortunately This space was a thoroughfare for all the takeaways, collections and food servers to deliver the food. The chairs were very uncomfortable and you couldn’t lean back in them as it felt like you would fall backwards. The door that my back was to, was opened and shut over and over again making it very chilly to say the least. We ordered duck pancake rolls and crispy chilli squid both came very quickly. The duck rolls were nice but the squid was very bitty, almost like the bits you get in a squashed bag of crisps. Just lots of batter and not much squid. We then ordered beef pangdang and chicken katsu curry (my husband’s utter favourite go to dish) both were lacking in taste and bland, my husbands chicken was very rubbery and because we were not given a knife & fork he had to use a spoon to cut it. We could have probably asked for these to be supplied but at no point did anyone approach to ask if the food was ok. I actually didn’t finish my beef as it was very stringy. At the end of the meal we asked for the bill and even then we were not asked if we had enjoyed it. No approach from the staff was made at all. The food was quite reasonably priced at £44 for 2 beers and 2 courses. I’m glad we went but I don’t think we would be returning. Read moreI went, by myself, rather early on a Tuesday evening at about 6pm. The place was empty, just me, the owner and a waitress. They were both pleasant and friendly and the owner took my order. I ordered the Karage chicken, which is classic Japanese style fried chicken, and vegetable tempura which contains broccoli, sweet potato, courgette, red pepper and green pepper all of which were cooked perfectly and tasted great and was a great companion dish to the chicken which was crisp, flavorful and deliciously savory. It was a lot of food and I wondered if I was going to have room for my main course of eel don, which is a grilled eel in traditional eel sauce served with rice and a side salad. The fish was fantastic: fatty - in a good way - deliciously flavourful and so tender that I could cut it with the chopsticks provided. When I cleared all three dishes I couldn't have eaten another mouthful and I was super satisfied. Including tip and a glass of apple juice it was only a few quid over 35 pounds and for the quality of the cooking and ingredients I was extremely pleased. The only negative of the whole experience was the steady flow of food delivery pick up blokes hanging out a few metres from my table as they awaited their food pick up. I know they have a job to do but I don't love eating my dinner while half a dozen random blokes pace backwards and forwards within six feet of my table making dark mutterings into their phones! Read moreHi, what has happened to all the old managers, im a regular customer and at my last visit a couple of days ago was the worst experience ive ever had. There was an elderly female staff who was so rude, not only did she speak rude to myself but she also spoke rudely to her co staff. I had asked her to speak to the manager which she had then responded to she is the manager, and didn’t seem so confident about. When I explained to her she’s being so rude she was still very cocky and didn’t really care about what I was saying. The last owners always cared about what we as customers had to say about the service or even took the feedback we’ve given and tried to turn it into something positive. This lady honestly isn’t here for her customers it seems she’s only there for the money. The worst managerial service I’ve ever had! Head office really need to find someone else to manage or deal with their customers in a better manner. I would say don’t go to this...
