My girlfriend and I booked in advance to have lunch here today with some friends at 1pm. The barman told us that the chef had gone somewhere and he couldn't get a hold of him. We had a drink and waited half an hour before asking if there had been any luck in locating the chef, absolutely no sign of the chef and no indication when they would return. We left after being told this and spent a large chunk of the afternoon finding somewhere else to eat.
I was so embarrassed and frustrated as we wanted to treat our friends to a nice lunch out and when you book a table you expect not to have any issues like this. I will say thank you to the barman who comped our drinks. I have no idea if the chef wasn't there due to a miscommunication or if the chef just doesn't care about their job anymore. Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to why the chef left and why they weren't prepped and ready for our booking. Either way, don't expect we'll bother trying to...

Appears to have been recently redocorated, has nice wooden seating and pool table inside. Nice size open garden. Good choice lagers plus couple real ales.
