Capri Bistro Horbury — Restaurant in Wakefield

I first have to say that I've been to Capri in Mirfield several times which I would rate as 5 stars for service. We expected the same level of service at Capri Horbury, but we were sadly let down. The three of us arrived slightly early for our reservation and after we had stood in the middle of the bar/reception area for three to five minutes (there were staff walking past and two bartenders ignoring us) a waiter came, took our name and said our table was ready. He showed us to our table which was okay, the place is a little gruby and dated. There were menus on the table and covid secure cutlery but no wine list, a waiter fetched a plate of bread, and another, after I asked gave me the wine list. And that was it. 15 minutes later not one member of staff had been at our table to take a drinks order, a food order or even to say 'we are a little busy tonight we'll be with you shortly', no, nothing we were just ignored. However the table behind us which was being laid as we arrived, the guests came in 15 mins after us and they were served straight away (it looked like the waiter knew them). We got up and left! Now if you think that I will drop £150 plus tips into your till for that kind of evening and service you are...

We Eat here all the time and I don’t know why I haven’t left a review yet as I’ve never once had a bad experience. The staff are lovely people and the food is amazing especially for the price. We ate at Capri at the vine the other week as that’s down the road from where we live and the service is poor and food quality isn’t even half as good as the Horbury restaurant. The thing I love about the Horbury restaurant is that when asking for the bill and you pay on card they don’t ask to leave a tip (I always do leave a tip but it’s nice to be my gesture). The only negative thing I can think of is that there’s one member of staff that when asking for the bill he’s already added a service charge onto the bill which puts you in a difficult position because who’s ever going to ask for it to be removed. The rest of the staff are an absolute credit to the restaurant and the Chefs are fantastic cooks!

Went for a family meal, waited 30 mins to order. I had to call the waitress over to order & then waited 20 mins for starters. We waited another 45 minutes for our mains. 4 fillet steaks was ordered 3 medium rare, 1 rare. 3 came out cold and 1 medium rare was more like blue. This one was given back and asked for a fresh one cooked medium rare. The same piece was brought back out with the same mushroom & tomato This was then sent back along with the other 2 and asked to be taken off the bill. Food we didn’t order was sent out and some food we did order came out wrong. Manager was quite argumentative when the issue was raised with him and we was given 3 pepperoni pizza’s to compensate. Our bill came to £225 this was without the steaks & without drinks Considering the amount of money being spent I expected a better service We have been previously and found it to be ok but unfortunately we will not...
