Been to the horse and jockey numerous times since Micheal started his restaurant there and we have never been disappointed. The food has always been first class. Good traditional food, fresh and micheal is always open to changing things if needed. There is always a warm welcome from all the staff who are always polite and look so smart in there black shirts and yellow ties. Cant believe they have just celebrated their first year, doesn't time fly. The surroundings are also very pleasant retaining some of the old traditional features, the bar staff are also very welcoming and always happy to help especially Sandra. There is a good sized games room and small beer garden over looking the local cricket field. However I would say that any one in a wheelchair that cant walk short distances would find it difficult to get around as it is a small pub, especially for getting to the toilet as you have to negotiate through some tight spaces. Also a step down to get into the restaurant and a step into the ladies toilet no ramps. But all in all a nice place to eat and enjoy...
Read moreThis place we visited last Sunday. We were told every Sunday through the summer, this pub has live music (4pm) and a Spud Van (possible external catering) sat outside while you bask in the sunshine in the beer garden. It's clean and plenty of spaces to take a pew. Child and Dog friendly there were plenty of families and dog walkers here, so if you're out for a walk and passing by over the weekend and the sun is shining, I'd recommend popping in here for...
Read morePopped in on my own after picking up the keys for our new house just up the road, intending on stopping for a quick celebration pint.
I can’t recall a time I’ve felt as welcomed in a pub the way the staff and regulars welcomed me here. I felt as though I was walking in my local of ten years to a small group of old pals. Two and a half pints, a bottle of 0%, and 3 hours later, I was on my way, and was even offered a lift home by one of the older lady’s that popped by for a social.
If you’re looking for a non-intimidating, homely and happy pub to spend your day, this is the place for you! It might not have the swagger of a salt pub, but it’s exactly the kind of place I love to spend my afternoons. Can’t wait to go back with friends, as I hear the music and weekends are...
