Whilst this has never been the place for quick service, Sunday 3rd July took the prize for the slowest service ever. Two hours to be served two orders of sandwiches and a salad! A table was booked for 1.15 pm, we were shown to our table and left to decide what we were going to order. 15 minutes later, back came the server for the aforementioned order only to inform us we couldn't have anything we had ordered as the "specials" were no longer available even though the specials board was still clearly on show. Another 15 minutes and the order was placed. Another 10 mins for two of the drinks to arrive and 10 minutes later the third drink arrived after we asked where it was. Need I say it was lukewarm. 40 mins later the food finally arrived. There was nothing wrong with the food perse but the drinks we ordered along with the sandwiches were now no longer there. To top it all, the couple who came in towards the end of this fiasco ( something to do with the business) began telling customers that the specials were available. The only apology came from a pleasant young lady who served the drinks. One of the staff was overheard saying there had been a bit of a wait! In two hours the whole menu could have been served. They even let one older lady sit waiting for a very long time before informing her whatever she'd ordered was not available. If you'd informed us when we came in that you were having problems with the orders, we would have...

A lovely tea room with polite and friendly staff. Firstly, there was plenty of parking and access was easy for me as I have mobility issues. The tea room was clean and tidy with pretty tablecloths and nicely decorated.

We did not feel rushed or pestered to hurry and the atmosphere was relaxing and calming with views of the river from the back of the tea room.

We were given plenty of time to choose our food and there was a good selection of options, including gluten free items.

We opted for a jacket potato with cheese and baked beans and a mature cheddar cheese and onion chutney sandwich made with seeded bread. Both meals were served with a generous side salad and salted crisps. The food was delicious and prepared with care. We then chose to have desserts and there was again, a good selection. My friend chose an Ice cream sundae and I had warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. Again, both delicious and beautifully presented. All the cakes appeared to be home made as we did see two ladies arriving with beautiful cakes in clear boxes. I even brought fruit scones with jam and clotted cream home for my husband as there is a takeaway...

OK café with very nice staff. Disorganised, though. They "lost" our order, then, after we placed it again, they got it wrong. It was right on the third go, but two staff completed it, meaning it arrived twice! There was also a mix up over what our table number was. Apparently, it was table number four, though that did not match either of the two numbers on our table. A lovely pot of tea in China cups - very nice. The coffee was, likewise, excellent. Two of us had cake. The raspberry cake was very good, the coffee and walnut cake was okay. I ordered a scone. It appeared to be a cheap, shop-bought scone, heated in a microwave so that the centre was like dough and almost inedible. Vases of dead and dying flowers dotted the café. We had a wheelchair with us and, although there was ramp access to the tea room, there was no disabled toilet and the wheelchair would not fit through the able bodied toilet doors. It has potential to be a really good café, but, at present, it is not.

Lovely tearoom, decorated nicely, friendly and helpful staff. They got a bit confused about my dietary requirements, but apart from that we had a lovely time. It's great that they are making use of the lovely old mill buildings, and that it's a working heritage flour mill.
