Don't usually leave reviews that much but stopped for a brew and a snack last weekend.. Wife had a gluten free meal that she really enjoyed , I just wanted a pot of tea and that's what I got..but..but, this is a game changer,in the pot was TWO teabags.. TWO! Years of moaning about tea being weak and the extra pot of hot water bieng a waste of time were swept away in a tide of tannin, that humble little bag of dried leaves sitting next to his brother in my pot elevated my short break Welsh holiday experience to a memorable occasion equal to scaling up the dizzy heights of Snowdon naked on a unicycle. Well done 👍 Hope it wasn't a mistake..
Update edit..
We went again last Saturday as we were going to the Bettgellert dog show (brilliant), Ordered a pot of tea, the waiting had us on tenterhooks, was it a mistake? Would there be a solitary bag forlornly bobbing in an ocean of boiling water? I flipped the lid of the pot open to inspect the contents, nothing!! Empty!! I had opened the extra water pot by mistake 😬. I could hardly bear the pressure of going through the lid opening again but manfully stepped up.. Flip the lid.. Stare over the steaming rim..
TWO BAGS!!! AGAIN!! YES!!!!!! Fair do's, you can't say better than that. I left, a happy man, knowing that my faith in the great British Brew had been restored in a beautiful little corner of Wales and was being guarded jealously by the formidable twins Gelert and y...
Read moreWas looking for somewhere to eat while visiting the village, and the reviews sold it to me. Was nearly very disappointed when we saw the sign saying the café was closed due to shortage of staff, but then saw that the outdoor café garden was open so went round the back via the river. So glad we did, the reviews did not lie. We each tried the Welsh Cream Tea, and the scones were amazing. Some of the best scones we have ever had. Firm on the outside, soft on the inside, warm, and so tasty. Everyone loved them. They cater for dogs too, with dog biscuits. It was busy when we went (mid-morning during a day in the Summer holiday) but we were lucky to find a table before it became very busy (train seems to bring lots of people). Service was friendly too. A bit pricey, but as a treat on the holiday we were all very happy! Would definitely visit again if passing, and hopefully try out the...
Read moreA super little cafe, with a magical garden at the back which is very popular. The surroundings are stunning, and when the weather is fair, lots of people enjoy the food offering and fabulous views. Just across the narrow lane is the river, and stone wall Bridge that the traffic navigates itself over in narrow surroundings. The high cream tea is lovely, although a little expensive. The cafe is clean, tidy, and the staff are very friendly and work well under pressure. The entry from Church Street gives a whole new dimension to the place, with very quaint features that are in keeping with this fabulous village setting. The toilet, means a queue, and maybe a little more attention to detail... But don't let that put you off. The hub bub of the garden area contrasts wonderfully to the quiet drink or meal inside the...
