Carousal Cafe — Restaurant in Wales

Well, good food, good service helpful staff and very clean. As a child we visited Barmouth so many times and almost 40 years on I got the opportunity to take my family, so little has changed its As if time had stood still despite the obvious you would expect, "the cost of everything" £11.00 for a jacket spud £4.50 for an ice cream and £8.50 for a sandwich, it was crazy, One chip shop had que's all down the road, you would have thought it the best chippy in Barmouth, my youngest (6) wanted large battered sausage and chips, no we only do small sausage not battered (£1.80 really small portion of chips £3.00) so most of the time we cooked our own meals in our caravan but sometimes you're out and you have to grab something to keep the kids happy. The carousel cafe was by far the most reasonable place to go, good fast food plenty of seating, clean and by far the better portion sizes offered than anywhere else.

Only negative I will add is that the breakfast prices are not reasonable but then nowhere in Barmouth is and I think they have just priced themselves in line with...

Although I thoroughly enjoyed my fish and chips from here..it was expensive. They charge you £1.30 for a small tub of gravy instead of just pouring it over. And trust me they are small pots so its not actually enough for your meal. They also charge 0.20p for each sauce sachet you request. It cost me £21.30 and that was for me and my 2 children. One of my children only had 6 chicken nuggets and not chips or a drink. I feel they should bring the food to you since it's a sit down cafe instead of just shouting orders out. Everything is very fast paced and feels rushed. The owners (who I assumed are the owners) were very friendly though, cleaning down tables and interacting with customers, they just need to watch they don't keep over charging as they will...

Asked for cheese on toast for my daughter and received very mouldy bread. When I took it back they just said sorry and didn't offer a refund or replacement! My husband then asked for a replacement as my daughter was hungry and they said they had no bread left. No refund offered. This was in the summer season of 2022 (to avoid confusion) The place was filthy and we actually sat at a table that was cleared but not cleaned. Staff obviously couldn't manage and were not sufficiently trained. I'm a local so it's sad to see. I understand mistakes happen, and a sorry and refund would have sufficed. But as you can see by the reply, the staff/management have zero customer service. I'd recommend the milk bar cafe just down the road...small but great...
