Visited for lunch as the reviews were glowing. Sorry to say that we were sorely disappointed š Interior was lovely and nice atmosphere and plenty of space. Ordered 1x big breakfast and 1x welsh rarebit with bacon.
Rarebit was tasty, but dry in texture after a while (Assuming that may be due to the cheese used- guessing cheddar). Would be nice with a chutney/relish on the side or a mix of cheese.
Breakfast was really not enjoyable. Sausages were terrible, reminded me of richmond/supermarket cheap sausages. I took one bite and (ashamed to say) spat it back out -honestly disgusting. Mushy texture with plastic like skin. Toast was hardly toast, predominantly just warm bread. Black pudding lacked flavour and was incredibly greasy. The hash brown was fine, didn't really taste of anything. Fried egg was cooked well. The mushroom and tomato were nice and helped to cut through the grease of everything else. Bacon was thick and really tasty. If it wasn't for the bacon, I probably would have sent the meal back. I was taken out for lunch and so felt bad complaining, when it was a treat. I ate the meal, apart from the sausage and toast. But really did not enjoy it and did feel bad that someone else paid £10.50 for it.
After being served our food, no-one came to check if everything was ok with our meals. We were asked the end when our plates were cleared. We said we were really disappointed with the sausages and were told "Wow that's surprising, everyone loves them. We get compliments all the time". We were asked why and we replied they tasted like cheap sausages, the reply was that they come from a local butchers! We were genuinely flabbergasted - they did not seem like butchers sausages at all and if I knew which one, I'd avoid them. Waitress did apologise but that was all.
Upon paying, everyone in the queue was asked how their meal was, apart from us. Felt as though because we had made a negative comment, they didn't want to ask at the till. Disappointing service. We were originally going to stay for cake and these did look delicious, however we didn't want to part with more money there.
I wouldn't return here and would recommend that people avoid unless they are just visiting for coffee and cake.
(Edit- my review has since been responded to. I don't think "strongly worded" is a justified description of my review. It is just an honest account. I was disappointed we were not asked during the meal, how it was or upon paying at the till. I don't think that is too much to ask at all- just good customer service. We often visit small businesses and actually seek them out. Which you could see from my other google reviews. We believe in supporting them but also believe in offering a balanced view within reviews for people to make their own judgements when selecting. I talked about the positives as well as the negatives. I can understand the owner's disappointment at my review against other glowing reviews as stated above, but I really did not enjoy my meal and I have the right to share my experience. I do not appreciate the owner trying to guilt trip me with the 'small business' card and there was no need to make that comment. A simple, we're sorry you didn't enjoy it and will take the comments on board would have been...
Read moreLooked good from the outside as walking past, ventured in. Instant niceness from the staff, menu produced and perused, choices off the lunch menu and the specials board chosen. Shortly afterwards my Uber small 200ML bottle of diet coke (even a normal sized can is 330ml) arrived, which I noticed before from the menu that it was priced at £2.95!! What a Very expensive bottle of diet coke???Not to mention the almost £9 charge for the so called "special" and the Welsh rarebit!!!! my special of hog roast sausage roll landed, with a few leaves of lettuce, grated carrot and the tiniest ramekin of coleslaw I have ever seen alongside, all charged at £8.95 each! The sausage roll wasn't a full sized sausage roll (clearly in-between bite size and normal size) and it's taste was bland to say the least, not really special!! My wife's Welsh rarebit was a slice of toast with a little melted cheese and tomato on top and 6, yes 6, crisps! some might call this a Welsh rarebit, I have my doubts it would pass for this. All in all, not worth the money we had to dutifully pay up and therefore left feeling as though we have been duped. People feel as though democracy has been quashed into oblivion theses days, so Complaining at the time carries no weight, consequently people must use review platforms like these to air their views and hopefully inform other potential customers before visiting. Unless a severe quality and quantity upgrade is delivered to get the best for ones "hard earned" buck, I certainly would not recommend visiting this establishment unless you have no taste buds and don't know the value of money. It's a NO...

I visited Clustia' Mul with my two boys a couple of weeks ago while staying overnight at the nearby Bulkeley Arms, who strongly recommended itāand Iām so glad they did! Iāve been searching for the perfect British breakfast for years, and Iām thrilled to finally say I found a 10/10.
No greasy fry-up hereājust top-quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. The bacon, eggs, beansāeverything was spot on and served in just the right portions. Both my boys loved their meals and cleared their plates.
Service was exceptional: friendly, efficient, and perfectly timed. Menus arrived quickly, the order was taken with care, and the food was delivered seamlessly. Everything ran like clockwork, and I never felt rushed. The prices were very reasonable too.
A truly fantastic experienceāIāll definitely make a point of stopping by again whenever Iām in the...
