Lovvvve this place, what a gem in a sea of substandard coffees 😆 Such a cool experience being inside the roastery, awesome equipment/eco cups, and love the boards telling the story/purpose/mission of the place, much respect for the ethics ✌ staff are super nice too, very chatty and make you feel so welcome. Now the important bit, the coffees! We had our usuals - decaf latte, decaf oat flat white. Latte - really excellent taste, perfect temperature (not too hot), spot on texture (not too thick/thin). I was quite surprised that the standard is only a single shot though - this is what I ordered for my first one and it was much too weak. I watched the other half of the double shot being split away from my cup, and presumably discarded, so when I ordered a double shot latte the next time round I was a bit surprised to pay extra for the other half of the shot! Really would love it if the standard was a double shot in a latte, to be the same as what I've found to be in all the other coffee shops on our 'decent coffee' list. Flat white was perrrrrfect though. We will be back!!

Well, we weren't expecting such a cool place when we decided to visit the place where one of our favourite brands of coffee is roasted! Wow! Easy to find and with parking outside, this coffee roasting company and cafĂ© in Ammanford is a little gem! The interior is fab - the cafĂ© is right next to the roasting area, so you can see the big machines and huge bags of beans. In the centre of the cafĂ© is the serving counter, with modern coffee machines and preparation area. There's seating all the way around, so you can watch your coffees being prepared. To one side is a pizza oven where they prepare the pizzas and hot food. This was cool to see. Then there's seating at tables all around. It's industrial looking but comfortable. There are also gifts and supplies on sale. I love that the owner is bringing back the industry and jobs to the area. The next black gold â˜•đŸŽó §ó ąó ·ó Źó łó ż Update 2024: we still call in for the best coffee in South Wales. This place is amazing, great coffee, great cakes and the staff are awesome.

A fantastic coffee roastery in Ammanford, Wales. We went to visit the Observation Point and decided to stop by at Coaltown for a lunch time coffee. This is probably the best coffee in Wales, the cafe has a old fashion minning atmosphere with solid wooden tables and soft cushioned chairs which makes it comfortable. The staff here are very nice and friendly and the service is good. We ordered 3 cappuccinos and a ramblejack bar to share, the coffee was delicious as was the bar. I would say maybe a slightly bigger cup for the cappuccino for the price you pay. Other than that, we had a very good experience and bought a packet of Prana Chai to take home. There is seating upstairs as well. I will definitely purchase some of their coffee in the future to make at home and will visit again when I come to Wales. If your in Ammanford, Swansea or Llanelli it's worth a trip - Highly Recommend!

I've been enjoying Coaltown's coffee for over a year now, and will continue to recommend their coffee. However, I was hugely disappointed in their new "restaurant." I'm not sure what they were thinking when they created their menu - your choice is very expensive pizza, or very expensive toasted sandwiches. It cost me almost ÂŁ40 for two small pizzas; the pizzas didn't come with very much topping at all, just a couple of slices of mushrooms and some crumbs of cheese, over a thin smearing of a tomato sauce. The size of the pizzas and the lack of topping certainly don't represent the extortionate price.

Of the two pizzas ordered, only one was brought to our table. We waited a good ten minutes, expecting our second pizza at any moment, when a family on the table next to us came over and asked whether the pizza on their table is ours, as they hadn't ordered it! So not only is the food way overpriced, but they can't be bothered to bring it to the right table once you've paid for it.

Stick to the coffee. The coffee is nice and worth the money. As for the food and service, I personally feel that Coaltown need to make some...

Must say, a little disappointed. I rather agree with the review left by James recently. I have been wanting to visit for some time and accidentally ended up taking a route via Ammanford to Brecon. Stopped for 4 takeaway drinks. Was told they don’t do syrups as they don’t go with their ‘speciality coffee’ - I would rather think this is a choice/decision best left to the customer! Customer-facing staff not overly friendly and welcoming - surely a warm friendly smile and attitude isn’t much to ask? Having ordered 4 lattes we all agreed that they were perhaps single shots and not very strong - coffee taste was subtle and barely noticeable. Will definitely be back to give these guys another go - the place was busy and so they are clearly doing something right. On this occasion, we all agreed it wasn’t the best first impression and hope we get a better feel and taste of coffee next time. It was great to be able to see the working roastery side of things and to read about its history in a...
