We went to Coco coffee house for food and a drink while in Welshpool. Food was good, had a bacon, brie and cranberry panini and a cheese and onion toastie. Salad was average. With it we had a pot of tea for two. In all it came to £22. Slightly expensive on reflection but everything has got that way. But all in all satisfied customers at this point. The male member of staff at the bar had come over as a bit short with customers and kept muttering under his breathe when talking to other staff, but we guessed he was just stressed. Anyway after our food we decided to have a piece of cake each and more tea. Went to order the cakes and thought we've got milk left so I'll just ask for more hot water in the tea pot. No extra tea just hot water. Oh no you don't. Mr grumpy at the bar said it's against the rules, it's not possible. You must pay for another pot. Now call me a freeloader, trying to get something for nothing, guilty as charged. At that point we would of spent £30. We were in Welshpool because we have just bought a house in the area. And will be returning to the town. Now I'll leave you to decide whether my request was unreasonable, but we didn't have cake and we won't be returning...
Read moreBeen here 5 times, each time they've either made the wrong order, or really screwed up the quality of the drink - lattes are too weak and have to be remade, the last one I had was very very weak and the froth was like sipping on a sponge! Asked for another shot of coffee and the girl at the checkout told me that as I chose to sit in, they only give you half a coffee shot in the glass, so I'm essentially paying for overpriced hot milk!! She didn't charge me extra for the additional shot though but I find that very off that they deliberately give customers weak lattes! Also once ordered a mint frapp from here and the girl drowned it in so much mint syrup it was honestly like drinking toothpaste! Had to ask for a refund as they had ran out of other flavours for other frapps and by then I was feeling sick. Staff are at least polite and will remake drinks without any fuss and the place is mostly clean, but they don't clean up dirty cups and plates often enough so limited seating choices. Delivery men have been known to dump stock on customer tables too (witnessed it once myself and others have told...
Read moreWe are visiting Welshpool House hunting, 15 minutes ago we decided to have coffee. Wherever we go we try to use local businesses, especially now. So we went to Coco on the High Street, its advertised as the friendly place to have coffee, well if that's friendly, I would hate to be on the unfriendly day. We stood at the door waiting to be asked in, "you need to wear a mask" said very sharply, then as I searched in my bag for my mask, she spat " In Wales you have to wear a mask indoors", I can't actually write the contempt and disdain with which this was said with. I had just got my mask on. As she flounced around as if she couldn't be bothered with us English (I am Welsh actually) I looked at my husband and we both walked out, we can spend our English pounds elsewhere thank you. We are sitting in Costa across the road having a lovely Mocha, having received a lovely friendly reception. As an addendum, we visited this cafe a week ago, the other girl was very nice she took our temperatures and names and treated us as human, and we had a...
