Arrived here as a last resort a couple days ago after booking online. Id been here 2 years before and had a pleasant experience. Upon arrival this time the waiter was polite and told us the procedures in place because of Covid-19. Problem was that went out the window as soon as i stepped foot over the door and it was more like Piccadilly circus. There was meant to be a one way system around the building that i presume customers thought was there for a bit of banter. We were situated by the Exit door, which means every intoxicated patron trying to put their best foot forward passed our table while leaving and to make matters worse the door was constantly left open and i had to keep shutting it to stop Jack Frost tapping my shoulder. The worst part was the food! we ordered at 8pm (two kids meals and two adult meals) by 9pm i started upon a quest to locate the much sought after meals. I asked a woman who i presume was the acting manager of that day as she wore casual clothes and swanned about the place with a look of authority. She said she would take over my quest and bring back answers. To this day I wish she never managed to complete the quest. Shortly after the food arrived, and the plates were really hot to the touch however the food was luke warm (unusual but not unheard of in this neck of the woods), We deduced that the head chef this evening might have been the microwave. The kids ordered scampi and a cheeseburger meal. they were just about edible. I ordered the hunters chicken and to be fair the actual chicken was decent but the fries were drier than a camels a**, the peas looked like they were reluctantly rounded up and my four onion rings got lost in transit. However the worst of tonight's meal roulette was my partners 'Classic Burger'. This delightful number must be a 'Classic' in Guantanamo bay because it was literally a beef patty between two pieces of bun, no salad or garnish inside at all. we told the manager and she went and got what was left in the kitchen to stick between the buns which was a piece of lettuce and a single tomato slice. We powered through the food for the sake of our pride but were met with defeat halfway through. Luckily the government threw us a bone and went half's on the bill as this was in no way shape or form a £37 dinner. and to top it off we had to pop in tescos and get meal deals just to keep the hunger at bay until morning. Dont know what happened to this place.

A friendly lunch stop The Fox and Hounds in Whitchurch is a local pub with a very comfortable feel which serves food. I visited for lunch and was really pleased with the selection and quality of the food. It was simple fare but perfectly presented. I started with Double cheese nachos which is made of Tortilla chips with melted Welsh Cheddar topped with American-style cheese sauce, soured cream and tomato salsa. The chips were crisp, and the two cheeses offered a pleasant alternative to each other. The salsa had a nice sharpness and the cream provided a cooling flavour – overall not bad at all. For mains I had scampi which were served with chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce and dressed salad leaves, I added a side of onion rings – This was a simple dish but was perfect for a snack. I would have preferred more chips and peas but understand that at prices as reasonable as these the small portions are to be expected. A simple but tasty meal for which I was grateful.

Pub itself is nice, besides wobbly tables and a very low hanging lampshade which we bumped our heads on a few times ! Lovely beer garden and kids play area. The app didn't work so we had to order at the bar. Food seems expensive for what it was. Prawn cocktail only had lettuce, no tomato or cucumber etc , other starters were missing dips. Our steaks were fine if not a little dry and again missing dips with the surf and turf. Additional steak sauces we ordered took a long time to arrive. Servers were friendly, kitchen inconsistent.

Well firstly i booked a xmas meal for 23 people, number 1 the tables were not set out, i had originally booked for 7.30, but was later informed that i could not have it till 8pm. I did'nt have a problem with that, other than we had my 90 yr old mum with us, hench why i booked for 7.30, then on the night some of the party were told it was 8.15, which it was'nt. Then the manager was asking people to vacate the area which the people that had to move were not happy with which i cant say i blame them, I personally would have put a notice up being an ex landlady myself, saying that the area had to be vacated at 7.30. Then by the time the tables had been organised it was way past 8.30. Now onto the meals, the starters were very slow in coming, as was the main meals, the festive meals were cold, and had only about a tablespoon of gravy on them, we had to ask for more gravy, my mum as i said is ninety and didnt touch hers because it was cold. Now also i was informed that there was 2 other party's on this night, who were also still being served, i will say i actually enjoyed my steak, but not the rest of it, some of the party said that their meals were ok, but only ok, whilst others said it was fine, not many in that second catergory im afraid though, and when i asked my brother and his son was theirs meals ok, the reply was we did'nt get a meal at all. As the kitchen staff did not do their meals . Then the sweets another disaster, i think they completly forgot those, as at 11 or there abouts we had to ask where they were. So some ended up taking theirs home in containers at the end of the night, and some did'nt get theirs at all, the only thing i can say was ok, was the undermanager couldnt apologise enough, so she did not charge for 3 meals, or any of the desserts, and gave vouchers for 30% off a meal to use in a brains pub, whilst the food may be fine for a party of 2 maybe 4 or even 6, it certainly is not for a large group. Also i must add it was all left up to the undermanager to face, as the manager did not seem bothered by it. We have booked this venue 3 times previously in the past and everything was fine, and also for more than 23 people, and although the undermanager said its a learning curve, that did not make the evening a success it was in actuall fact a complete and utter disaster to say the least, spoilt completly for my mum, who it was all about.and myself as everyone was asking where their food was. I am not one to complain as a rule, as i am really easy going but this was absolutly disgusting, and it totally ruined the night and the atmosphere So unfortunatly i will never ever book...

Visited the Fox and Hounds yesterday with 11 people, the table which was reserved for us was way too small we then moved to another table which we could all sit around in comfort. The starters of garlic mushroom's and the garlic prawns were tasteless with the prawns themselves served dry with a side salad and dry bread.

The main courses of Sunday lunch and other meals which had been ordered were served sporadically over a fifteen minute period with people waiting for gravy and accompanying sauces by which time their meals had gone cold. The waitress was bringing out a pepper sauce ten minutes after my steak was served and then the garlic bread followed a further ten minutes later,I asked for my meal to be taken away and removed from the bill, which when checked was still listed.

Overall a very poor experience for my family who were looking for to a lovely meal with members of our family which we only see from time to time in a pub/restaurant which has just undergone improvements but obviously not in the kitchen area as we were expecting a better...
