What has happened to this place? Just had the worst meal ive had in a long time. I was absolutely shocked at first by how empty it was as we visited for my sons 9th birthday. About 10 people in the whole restaurant including us. As I looked at the food prices and then saw the portion size I realized why. My wifes lasagna was awful and tasted weird. It was a frozen lasagna with a load of Bolognese sauce around the outside. Very poor indeed and for the price £13.40 it just beggars belief. Her coffee was also horrid and the beans were stale.
I had the spicey meat spaghetti. It was ok but not much bigger than a starter at most decent places. The meatballs were rock hard and the pepperoni was a cheap as you can get with that horrid tangy fatty smell and taste. My one son is fussy so had a very small bowl of £4.20 fries. 70% of which were hard and spikey and were wasted. My 9 yr old whose birthday it was had burger and fries and he did enjoy it. Then we waited for the table to be cleared and the birthday cake to be brought out, he loves that. And its the only reason we went. They forgot and we were hanging around like idiots until my wife went and reminded them. They played the music 5 minutes later and we had to stall our son making up nonsense to keep him from wanting to leave. The waitress brought the thing down no candles lit and lit them by the table. It was just unbelievable. One thing after another like a comedy sketch. In the end relieved of nearly £50 we all left the restaurant, 3/4s of us disappointed and still hungry. And with no Italian music like I remember just Britney Spears and other ghastly pop tunes. My family will never return there again. I cant see how it can possibly survive with such ridiculous prices, small portions, cheap ingredients and frozen...
Read moreVisited Frankie and Bennys Merthyr recently with a few frkends and I was disgusted by the service. Leslie was miserable, rude, uninterested and you could see she didn't want to be there or serve us by the look on her face. I also saw her bullying and demeaning kther staff members. The food was overcooked and we had an extremely long wait for food. People like this should not be around others. The place looked understaffed so not enough people rota'd on, which is down to lazy poor management. This place has seriously gone downhill. Heard a few servers and kitchen staff discussing other customers very rudely and judgmental. A server also misgendered my friend and would not serve them because their ID was pre- transition. They tried to explain their pronouns but was ignored. They tried to use another ID ( after transition) which was not accepted either. My friend was very upset by this. Food tasted like it had been burnt, cooled down and then microwaved. My friend is sure that they had food poisoning from here. They also ignored our request for dietary requirements such as a vegan meal and diary free meal. Was told they would " see what they could do". Me and my friends were having a conversation and trying to finish our unsatisfying burnt rubber tasting food, when suddenly the lights went off and this god awful birthday music came on. Could not see to eat and could not hear eachother to talk. We thought this place was an adult orientated Italian restaurant not a children's. This spoiled the mood a d atmosphere was extremely annoying. Please get rid of this. Absolutely terrible. Will not return because if these reasons. I can't believe places like this are still allowed to operate in this...
Read moreHad a very disappointing visit today with my Daughter and Grandchildren. Our meals were lovely but there was an issue with the drinks, firstly we all ordered orange Fanta but when they came it was obvious that the syrup had run out and they were just like soda water. These were easily exchanged for lemonade for my granddaughters, lemonade and lime cordial for myself and pepsi for my daughter. On first tasting my drink it was a little strange but i put this down to cheap lime cordial but when my granddaughters tasted their lemonade it was obvious that these too had no syrup added. Again the drinks were returned, the waitress then explained that they were having an issue with drinks running out. Next we ordered diet pepsi in exchange for the lemonade, myself i opted not to have a drink because I didn't like anything else on the menu. The childrens diet pepsi arrived and they didn't say anything but it became obvious that they were not drinking them and lo and behold my daughter tasted it and discovered that yet again they were just soda water but at this moment the waitress came over to ask if these were ok because somebody else had just reported that their diet pepsi drinks were off. We were then told that the lemonade was back on so we received more drinks. The whole thing had became a bit of a farce especially as by the time we eventually recieved drinks fit for purpose we had finished our meals. We regularly visit Frankie and Benys but this visit has definitely put us off visiting again in the...
