Unhygienic and unsafe dining experience.
We realised we’d been served the wrong food when a member of our party opened their burger to find it was a chicken burger. They’d already nibbled on a few chips and removed the coleslaw from inside one of the burgers. When we informed the server she half expected us to just accept what we’d been given even though the order was completely wrong. After we asked again for what we’d ordered the server reluctantly took the food away, only to serve the exact same burgers on the correct table opposite us only minutes later (we noticed the coleslaw which we’d removed from the burger was sat on the side of the plate when they were serving them).
We informed the table that we’d been served those burgers and we’d already touched them and eaten a few of the chips. The server claimed she didn’t know and acted shocked and horrified, but she’s the one who took them away and then reserved them to the table, knowing that we’d touched the food and removed the coleslaw when she took them away. As for the food we actually ordered, it turned up half wrong with missing side orders. My steak had been sat under the halogens in the kitchen for a while, evidenced by the warm salad, dry steak and boiling hot plate. The t bone steaks were a challenge to eat, very tough, but we persevered due to how unbelievably hungry we were.
Our table was shunned for the rest of the evening with no one coming to ask if the food was okay, or if we wanted any drinks or desserts. The welcoming service we’d experienced on arrival was replaced with silence, and no doubt because we spoke up and told the table opposite they were about to eat food that people on our table had touched and partially eaten.
I’ve heard from friends and family in the last few weeks that standards had plummeted, and I’m sad to see...
Read moreEXCELLENT FROM THE SECOND WE ENTERED THE CAR PARK! We were on our way home from a day out when I pulled into the car park of The New Crown to see if I could book a table 'there and then' as we were hungry. I approach 3 men who were at the 'front desk' only to be greeted by a warm and welcoming "hello, may I help you sir?". I asked if it was possible to book a table for two. Straight away the staff there sorted a table that had just been thoroughly cleaned and in we went. We were then greeted by a 'waitress' who clearly loves her work. She was polite ( NOT 'patronisingly') and very helpful. As you order by an app, she went through the process with me explaining how it works etc. After all that, the app itself failed! Without any issue at all, she went and got a menu and we ordered a drink and meal 'old style'!! The meal was FIRST CLASS, as was our lager. 'Julie' then sorted the bill making it 'painless' and a very simple process. She is clearly a credit to The New Crown and deserves recognition for making our meal absolute perfection. A fantastic meal can be a disaster if you get bad service, but our experience was 1st class from the second we entered the car park. THANK YOU JULIE THANK YOU NEW CROWN... WE WILL RETURN. UPDATE * Went again today, 25⁰C outside so I think half of Wales were coming in! We had a friend who was returning home, so wanted to treat her to a meal before she went home... well, the staff 'fitted us in' THE STAFF... 100%+ THE FOOD... 100%+ NEW CROWN, ANOTHER DESERVED 10/10! THANK YOU FOR MAKING...
Read moreBooked a table for a meal for two on a Saturday 7pm. Arrived to find it was outside area and the seating was placed in the rain outwith the roof cover. People smoking cigarettes all around us. Bar staff inundated with a baby shower party and concentrating on serving drinks. I was told to return to our table and someone would be sent out to take our food order. Waited 25 mins and returned to the bar and made an order. Couldn’t get the chips replaced with a salad, they had to come with chips and salad. Couldn’t get the same sauce as creamy garlic mushroom starter for a sirloin steak main, I had an insipid peppercorn sauce that was thickened with cornstarch. (It wasn’t made with green peppercorns or cream) Sirloins were on the rare side of medium rare. The calamari starter with chilli sauce was nice though the sauce/dip tasted like a supermarket bottle brand. The creamy garlic mushroom starter was enjoyed by my partner. Overall not impressed with either the quality of food but especially the service. This establishment on that night was primarily interested in serving as many drinks as possible to a continual stream of revellers. The smoking outside in an eating area was a real put off. Go here if you’re on a pub crawl but not for food or a friendly...
