We had a little walk around Milford Marina one afternoon recently and it was a lovely autumnal day. I said to my husband “ooh, I really fancy a nice bowl of soup and some crusty bread!” My husband agreed too. We weren’t massively hungry but needed something to get us through until dinnertime. Every place we popped into didn’t have soup on their menu until we stumbled on Freckles CafĂ©! I’d been here once before with a friend and we’d had a lovely cheese ploughman’s platter which had been so big we had to have doggy bags to go home with. You know it’s a great place when you want to take your leftovers home with you. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived and were seated in a nice cosy corner overlooking the marina. I was so pleased when I spied on their specials board that they had Red Pepper Soup and Welsh Cawl. This satisfied the vegetarian in me and the carnivore in my husband. Our order was taken by a lovely friendly gentleman and he left us to enjoy the surroundings. The cafĂ© is very vibrant and cheery and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves eating and chatting. It’s clearly a popular place because it was busy, so we were lucky to get a seat. I looked around at what people were eating and the food looked great, simple but wholesome and wonderfully sized portions. Some of the staff were having their lunch, which I thought was so nice to see them eating in the same place as their customers and enjoying the food they’d prepared and served. Our soup came out very quickly and looked and smelled wonderful. Mine came with a cheese toasty and my husband’s Cawl with a thick chunk of fresh white bloomer and butter. The soups were gorgeous, so tasty, so filling and it was clear to us that we had come to the best place to eat home cooked, wholesome quality food with locally sourced ingredients. This really is a wonderful cafĂ© to meet friends, catchup, relax and enjoy a lovely atmosphere with fabulous tasting food and happy friendly staff. I didn’t mention the cakes, although we were too full to sample any, but their cakes looked knockout. Go check Freckles out!

Found an absolutely fantastic place for breakfast lunch etc here at Milford, we were looking for a dog friendly place in Neyland unfortunately nothing around, googled dog friendly and this gem popped up Freckless in Milford, after only a 15min journey, great parking it's right on the harbour overlooking the boats. The food and service here were on point, I opted for the full breakfast and it was stunning, not a drop of grease and cooked to perfection, the sauces came in a 4x the normal size pouch which tasted lovely and not having to squeeze out 4 to get a decent serving. My better half opted for the vegetarian option and again she was very pleased as it tasted great. For me this dog friendly cafe is a gem and well worth the travel from Pembroke or Neyland. The cafe is spotless and staff very welcoming .. I'll defo be back.

Looks the nicest cafe on the water front. Breakfast, coffee and cakes look lush. Wasn’t able to sit down because the table was reserved apparently. Maybe because we had two kids and a push chair. Edit- After returning the following year there were still no tables available. Felt a bit uncomfortable whilst they ask each other if the free tables are actually free. As if to say do we went them in here or not? Not a very good atmosphere with the main women running the show couldn’t even acknowledge us. We went to Spinnaker cafe down the road in the end which was cheaper and more welcoming. Shame as I do stand by my original comments.

Wish i could say the atmosphere was as enjoyable but I can’t unfortunately. Very uncomfortable scene going on behind the counter a few weeks ago, where a young girl (I assume a trainee) was being spoken to terribly by the owner or manager I’m not sure which. A line was forming at the till, the girl was very polite letting us know it was her first shift at the cafe, apologising for the wait and trying her best to take orders whilst looking on the verge of tears with the way she was being scolded by the manager which was very difficult to see. I Heard the manager using foul language, shouting at the girl and overall having a very poor and odd attitude. the whole scene was embarrassing to put it bluntly, nothing bothers me more, than to see staff at a business being mistreated. Now I obviously don’t know what was happening behind the scenes but to be honest i don’t really care to know because whatever was happening, no one should be spoken to that way wether there’s a rush or not there’s absolutely no excuse for it and seeing the girl being spoken to in a very degrading way by that woman really got to me I’ve never heard anything like it in my life. There’s no reason anyone should be treated that way for any reason and if you have issues with staff it should be dealt with in a professional private manner, without letting your personal anger issues take over which absolutely did not happen in this instance. Down here for a holiday and can’t say I recommend this cafe or will ever be returning after the nastiness I witnessed from the manager/owner. The attitude towards staff is disgusting and I can’t put my money into a business with higher ups who believe bullying is...

Review of Freckles Café at Milford Marina

We recently visited Freckles Café at Milford Marina, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish!

The food was excellent, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty meal or just a light snack, the menu offers something for everyone, and the quality is outstanding. Even better, the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high standard of the dishes served.

The atmosphere at Freckles is warm and inviting, with its cosy interior and scenic marina views creating the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The café has clearly been designed with care, and the vibe is both friendly and welcoming.

A special mention has to go to the lovely, friendly staff, who truly went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable. Their attentive service and genuine smiles added a personal touch that made the experience all the more memorable.

I highly recommend Freckles CafĂ© to anyone visiting Milford Marina. It’s a gem of a place that ticks all the boxes—great food, great value, and great people! We will...
