We we regulars of this pub / restaurant, visting once a week in the summer months and once or twice a month over the winter. We always felt it was really welcoming, homely and comfortable. We especially loved the snug by the fire in the bar. If we ever had visitors from away we’d take them out for dinner here, and often called in on a Sunday for a last minute roast dinner. I loved the vegan menu and the labelling of allergens, and the staff were also really good at helping me work out what was gluten free and vegan. They’d even tweak dishes for me so I could enjoy them. Until one day I ordered a vegan gluten free starter of battered cauliflower bites and found that when I bit into one of them it was actually chicken.

I have been vege for many years and it was devastating to me that I bit into the flesh of an animal. I told a member of staff who did refund the meal but wasn’t very apologetic or understanding of the seriousness of the situation. I pride myself on eating in such a way that I don’t cause needless suffering to innocent animals, so to have this happen to me was a very big deal. Being vegan is a protected right in the uk, by law, and while I haven’t chosen to do anything about what happened to me, it seriously did cross my mind. I have told the staff that I won’t be returning and it’s such a huge shame because I really enjoyed being at the harbour inn, spending my hard earned money.

If nothing else comes of this, other than staff being more aware of veganism and the mental harm it can cause by feeding a person meat then I will be satisfied.

I know veganism is a huge joke in wide society, i’ll never understand why people wanting to save the lives of animals is so hilarious, but please take it seriously if you claim to serve meat free food, make sure it actually...

Below our standards. Won't be going again. Normally go every year 4x a year, when work allows, as we are locals. Now to the bad points. The app was unbelievably hard to understand. The app wasn't step by step. The staff told you one thing and failed to mention you had to download another app on top of the app you already had. The menu was restricted as I asked for a certain thing and they didn't have it. I had chicken curry without the mango chutney cause they didn't have it. So a bit ticked off by that. The ladies / disabled toilets were clean but the amount of mould spores near the toilet, anyone with asthma or breathing problems would find this a difficult environment. The slide toilet system, green for open, red for engaged. Several times no man in our 2 hour slot, used this system. I nearly forgot to do it. They had no chicken, so all chicken dishes weren't available. The strawberry cheesecake, we think the strawberry boat sank on that. Now the good points which are few and far between, a staff member noticed I was getting highly annoyed with the app and gave us menus to read from, instead of using the app. The brains brownie was given the 9.5 out of 10 by our family member, only down side is not...

I came here as part of a group of 11 for a 60th birthday meal. We were told we had to pre order our food so we pre ordered two days in advance. When we arrived a member of the bar staff was supposed to inform the kitchen that we were here so they could make our pre ordered food. That did not happen. A member of our group even went up to the bar after 30 minutes to ask where the food was and they said it was on its way. 20 minutes later another member of staff told us that no one had come to tell them we were here. After over an hour of waiting we finally got our food only for two of the orders to be wrong and for one of our group (the person who's birthday we were celebrating) to be told that they just didn't have a part of the meal that he had pre ordered with absolutely no apology. The food was definitely not worth the wait, my other halfs father couldn't cut through his steak with a steak knife it was that tough. On top of all this (and honestly there was more) the staff were incredibly rude and unapologeti and argued the point with us and told me I was wrong about the food I had ordered . Overall a bad experience and we will definitely not be coming back and would...

After a long walk along the coast on a very hot day we stumbled towards the Harbour Inn. The Harbour seemed to go on forever but we received a keen welcome and had a couple of pints plus some tap water to rehydrate. We liked the feel and look of the pub with tables inside and outside including a garden area out back. After looking at the menu we noticed a offer of 3 courses for a tenner less 1p that you can order between 12 and 17.00hrs. Food arrived in a timely manner and was tasty and well cooked maybe slightly over cooked. The desert was very nice as you will see from the pictures. Only knocked a star off because of the slightly overcooked chicken. Staff were young and attentive giving a good vibe to the pub. Bonus of a red dragon on my desert dish.😀

1 star was for friendliness of staff.. cold in there. Waited half hour for roast which is advertised as carvery. Everything on plate was cold, frozen stuffing ball ,3 roast potatoes, beef like rubber, all veg was was broccoli and carrots still raw, one teaspoon of red so called cabbage, tasted like cranberry sauce, forgot horseradish ,advertised on menu as carvery and half roast chicken 2 small slices . Gravy very cold, 40 pound for 3 awful cooked small roasts. Need teeth to eat there. So disappointing as we travelling with 91 year old. I have nothing good to say to be honest.. 1 star for friendliness that's it !!!
