My partner and I went in to watch the Euroâs final (weâre English so couldnât miss it) and the lady behind the bar wasnât very welcoming and a little frosty but must admit she got nicer as the night went on but none the less not a very good first impression. There was 2 TVâs either side of the pub and when they turned on the TV on our side there was no sound initially, as the game hadnât started yet I wasnât that bothered but the next time I went up to the bar to get a drink I asked the Lady behind the bar politely if she could put the sound on, she turned to the landlord who was watching the TV on the other side of the pub and asked him who rudely replied saying âyeah but itâs not going to be very loud this side will be louderâ. I wasnât particularly happy with the outcome as I was sat at the back and could barely hear it but didnât want to kick up a fuss. It quickly became apparent that for some reason the TV on the other side of the pub which the landlord was watching the football on was about 2 minutes behind the TV on our side. At half time a lady I had befriended politely asked the landlord if there was a possibility of turning the volume up as we were all having a hard time hearing it and his reply was something along the lines of âno because youâre ahead your side and weâre behind so youâre not having the volume any louderâ. Now I know for a fact that the landlord was watching the TV that was ahead along with most of the others on that side as I saw them so itâs beyond me why he didnât just turn the TV up for everyone in the pub to hear it. Also being the landlord I canât understand why he himself didnât chose to sit the side with the TV that was ahead. His replied almost seem childish like âyouâve got that so youâre not having thisâ. Overall he was an awful landlord with poor customer service skills and I will 100% not be going back there and will be telling my family and friends that often frequent Solva not to drink...
Read moreWe called into The Ship Inn pub for something to eat after a day of exploring the local coastal paths to be honest it was a last resort as the other pubs were full at the time. We walked into the pub were a very rude man who I presume was the landlord was very cold and unwelcoming, he was very draconian in his attitude, my mask had pinged off my ears and I was trying to put it back on whilst juggling my bag and dog lead, he asked me if o had a mask which he could clearly see I was trying to clip on he then told me 3 times to go and log in with the track and trace at the bar (I was trying to keep to one side with my dog as there was little room at the small bar area) which my husband was already at the bar logging us in for the track and trace which if the landlord had taken the time to listen to me instead of trying to impress his little group of cronies with how he could boss his customers would have realised, we were shown into a side room that was dark and smelt damp the table was tacky and not very clean, the food order was taken incorrectly and they took an order for 4 people when there was only 3 of us, the food was over priced for the standard however I expect to pay more on holiday and am quite happy to put money into the local community, the young boy serving seemed to be a bag of nerves and I am not surprised if the landlord treats his staff like his customers. My biggest regret is we didnt just walk out, we had been to the Harbour Inn round the corner several times whilst on holiday the food was lovely and the staff were so nice checking if everything was fine, I strongly advise anyone who visits Saul to go there and give the Ship Inn pub a wide berth. The woman behind the bar said thank you as we were leaving, Maybe the landlord should try being a little more friendly and we would have happily stayed and...
Read moreA truly awful pub. Have tried on two separate days to get served here only to be rudely treated by ignorant staff. On the first occasion a group of friends and I entered, there were signs saying food served but a sign propped up in the door saying kitchen closed, to when asking the question is the kitchen closed or are you serving food the bar lady pointed at the sign, grunting it's closed look at the sign. The second day after deciding to try again we saw signs outside offering crab meals and sunny beer garden by a Riverside. On the eight if us entering we again were met with scowles from the staff as though we were causing them inconvenience, we asked directions to the beer garden but we're told it's closed. The staff were extremely rude and ignorant and it is obvious that they do not care about customer service. I would recommend avoiding this pub if you want a pleasant drink and...
