If I could give less than one star I would. Called in for a quick drink with a large party to a very quiet pub in a quiet area. We’ve just moved to the area. We wanted to support local business but were immediately greeted by an incredibly rude officious Australian or New Zealand hostess. After five separate rude exchanges and being told off and shouted at plus much muttering by staff - we gave up. Zero customer service.
We were trying to follow their complicated requirements but we had not been there before. Reallly not the warm friendly welcome we were expecting and we won’t return. They lost out on quite a bit of money as decent size...

We hadn’t booked a table, but we arrived early after the opening so the waitress managed to to find us a table. Ordered the roast beef and the wait was quite long, more than 20min. I thought this may be down to the kitchen getting up to speed. The food was really nice, maybe the red cabbage over generous with the cloves, but great meat. Read moreUNDER NEW MANAGEMENT As a very close neighbour of this establishment, we haven't been to the pub for 5 years!!!.. Having it back is wonderful...Its now being run by a local family. The place has had a long awaited facelift. It's cosy, clean and warm inside and an equally warm welcome from the happy staff. Wonderful start to food too, 6 of us ate, we had the scallops with black pudding starter and chicken liver pate both were exquisite and beautifully presented. Mains of steaks cooked to your liking, huge tasty moule and frites, fish and chips all cooked and presented to perfection......
