We pre-booked a table and were directed to our table when arrived. Lady at the bar was polite. Good start. We ordered our meals but then after quite some time a member of staff came out to notify me that my chosen dish was not available and to choose another. I chose another dish only to be told 5 minutes later that they had also ran out of this choice. I therefore chose the same dish as my husband. We waited a further 30-40 minutes for our food which was not ideal with a hungry 6 year old. The member of staff said they would take 20% off the bill as a gesture which I accepted. Another member of staff also asked if I would like a drink on the house so I thanked her and had a small glass of wine. The first member of staff came back later to say that as I had had a drink he would now not give me 20% off the bill. Everything felt very disorganised and I felt it was unfair for him to go back on his offer. The glass of wine certainly was not equivalent to 20% of our total bill. It's also not my fault that these colleagues could not communicate properly with each other. The food eventually came out and the portion sizes were very small with some things missing. The chips were cold and the accompanying garnish was very limp. We also noticed that a table next to us who arrived about 10 minutes after us were only getting their food just as we were leaving and my husband and son had also had puddings. I appreciate it was busy but I felt there was no organisation and the food was really poor for what we paid. I certainly don't think we will be going back and judging by the faces of the other guests I don't think many of them will either. Such a pity as it's such a...

Perfect location . Best place to sit and have a drink overlooking bay . Nice modern room (room 4 ) seaview.Comfy bed but NO pillow protectors , i slept on my towel over pillow . Must get pillow protectors though asked cleaner for them and was told its Marstons policy to not use them . Never been anywhere before that dont have all bedding protectors. Bathroom though very dirty .Mould on ceiling above shower just needs a wipe , dirty gungy extractor fan , rusty slime on soap dispenser over sink . Black smudge on shower skirting board , thick dust ontop of sink light .All just needs washing . Unscrew bathroom light and get all black bits out .Would of been nice to have cleaned before customer arrives , i saw as soon as walked in the bathroom so dont know how cleaners miss this . Very cheap thin toilet rolls. Good breakfasts .Main food ok . Lee behind bar smiley and friendly as was barman with ponytail . Bar was nice , love the touch of fairy lights but the white chairs were very black ( dirty from hands) again need washing or repainting . Dog friendly place so thats good . Would stay again if could just improve on the cleanliness of bathroom and got all bedding protectors as it has the best central location and great to sit on front having a drink watching the dolphins...

We have been coming to New quay for years and always called in for a drink and sometimes we had food but on this visit I was very surprised as to how much this place had gone down. We arrived and was hoping to get a table outside but there weren't any free..not with people sitting at them but left over food and drinks from previous visitors. We counted four tables full plus people who did have seats there tables were also not looking nice and Plates not been cleared from them either. We went in for a drink and managed to get a table at the back. The table was very sticky and coverd in food and old drink rings. The two tables by the bar were piled high with glasses whilst 2 members of staff just stood behind the bar. We decided to go and sit outside on the wall. Food was being brought outside to customers but staff were going back into the pub empty handed??Why didn't they take empty plates from tables with them so people could sit at clean ables without having to find somewhere to put them. It is such a shame as it's in a prime location with lovely views. We heard others saying that it was often like that which is a shame. Hopefully by the time we call again it will...

Stayed here for one night the weather was terrible but it was made up for by this hotel and the staff and service that we received, the barman was the friendliest most helpful polite I have come across but every member of staff couldn't do enough for you, exceptional. The hotel was perfect from booking in to checking out, the room we had was huge we a view of the bay as seen in photos, the bed was large and really comfortable, had a great night's sleep. Hotel is in a great location opposite the bay and a short walk to shops, bars, cafes. The food is served at the table and is excellent and very reasonable price, we had an evening meal and breakfast with a good choice. Now for the drinks, what a great choice bottled beer had an offer on as did the shorts and cocktails which made all the drinks a very very good price. I have stayed at 5 star hotels and not had service as good as this and feel it deserves this review. Well done penwig hotel and a big thank you to all the staff, impeccable.

Thank you for such a wonderful short break. It was so nice to have such friendly staff and people who cared about your holiday on hand to help and give advice on what to do and where to go. The room was awesome! 4 huge windows overlooking the harbour and sun from early morning till early evening. Best of all, we were able to see dolphins and porpoises from the comfy bed! Big thank you to all the staff at the Penwig... Of course, there was one other person who has to get a 5 star rating also. Charlie! Who made us coffee at silly o'clock in the morning, and guided us to be best places and told the local delivery guys to keep the noise down and not wake the guests :-) Food, which was plentiful and competitively priced was delivered quickly and very filling. 110% a wonderful and enjoyable trip, can't wait to go again.

Reserved a table for 2 of us, easy to reserve and great that it’s dog friendly.. However, the food was distinctly mediocre. We tried using the QR code to order but some of the starters were missing from the on line portal. Ended up standing in a queue (which was out of the front door) just to get the order taken. The starters turned up pretty quickly, we ordered garlic bread and Haloumi fries. The garlic bread wasn’t cooked enough and felt like eating a sponge laced with garlic paste. Looked like it had been bought last minute from a cheap supermarket..The main courses took a lot longer to arrive, I ordered the Ultimate Chicken burger and I’d love to know what was Ultimate about it.. Should have called it the decidedly mediocre chicken burger… Very disappointing.
