Been to this place again recently. I mean no offence but I'm no food critic but I'm sure your ment to look forward to a Sunday roast. Your ment to enjoy the experience and the venue should make you feel needed and like your opinion makes a difference. This visit was for a birthday party and after this service I will never visit again. In fact I'll show you all as to why. If you goto another establishment and ask for a Sunday roast. You expect veg meat and mash on the plate. And then you look for a gravy service to put on your own... my wife ordered a chicken dinner on the plate was a chicken breast portion. A stuffing ball overcooked and solid. Some toasties drown in gravy. On a separate plate that I had to pay more for came the mash and then enough veg for 2 PPL on a plate..... After spending £50 we had 3 untouched meals and 2 drinks. After asking staff for them to refund as the food was NOT upto standards we were told. "You won't be getting no refund because the food is already cooked". But an offer of 1 free meal or desert was given.... this attitude is discussing. I strongly advise if your going for a family meal and want real food do not visit here. It's precooked and proportioned meat the mash is microwave smash from a packet and the veg have been there so long it all tastes rotten. I'm sorry but the idea of a family meal outside the home it to eat something you usually wouldn't cook at home but everything I seen that come to the table was apaling my nephew ordered gammon but there was no meat its was fat and gristle. At least if I goto Toby I can chose if my plate wants gravy. My wife was told to wait to see if the next plate has no gravy and swap meals with then... I think that's discussing and this place needs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave just been to Monkstone Inn Rumney for Sunday lunch. I would not recommend this. Food was served cold, vegetables were frozen, Yorkshire puddings burnt and the beef was most definitely not a roast joint, seemed similar to what gets served in a ready meal. Mentioned to member of staff (I believe it was manageress who runs pub) who said we should have said earlier and she would have replaced it all but quite frankly we did not want the same inferior quality of food, only hotter. We did get asked if we were having dessert or more drinks but were so disappointed with what we had been served we weren't interested in staying. It's such a shame to feel let down by a local pub. We have had other meals from the menu in the past that were ok but today's experience has taken the Monkstone Inn off our places to go for food. I understand hospitality has been hit hard by cost of living but so have everyone and the cost of this Sunday Roast was higher than the food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNothing against management or staff but It would be nice to see the inside decor steamed cleaned seats and carpets but that's my point of view!!
A group of us attended for a lunch meet there was lot of confusion over the lunches in waiting and fish was served to one person no fish!! All batter the poor waitress bless her had to work very hard there was no other staff that barmaid needs a medal to be working on her own serving waiting when serving groups there should more than one person serving. Don't get me wrong my meal I had a lite bite option was really nice.
This is only time I've had chance to comment as I've been to lot of places I try to answer accordingly!!
