AWFUL EXPERIENCE Went for anniversary meal, was seated on a table for four by the door., asked to move across to a different table across the room as people coming and going standing by table was uncomfortable and just not nice. The lovely waitress said she had to check and came back and said that’s fine and we were given a lovely table , again for four and we were so happy and excited to be there. We ordered drinks and had them served , then owner came over , table plan in hand and said she had four people who they wanted to seat at our table, the waitress shouldn’t have moved us and they didn’t want four people by the door ! We weren’t given a choice , she picked up our drinks and unceremoniously ousted back to the Table for FOUR by the door. After having sat the other side we realised how dark and lacking atmosphere that table is. We should have left then because I was so upset about how rudely we had been treated,, but we ordered food , my partner was eating the ‘garlic bread ‘ we ordered but I was so upset I didn’t try any until a few pieces left , she said it wasn’t very garlicy .. was plain outta! I ordered marinara .. it was full of chilli, dry and bland with plenty of muscles calamari and just ONE prawn! A sweet little waitress came over half way through and asked if all ok with meals .. I said not really and she scurried off bless her ., she looked terrified by the owner . I has to leave most of my meal as it was so hot .. owner finally came over and questioned why we left our food. I told her the whole experience was awful about being moved so rudely and that the marinara was too spicy .. she offered to change it ? We’d been there an hour and completely had enough so asked for the bill.. There was no apology for appalling treatment and we paid over £50 .. we left upset and hungry. I’ve never been treated so rudely in a restaurant. The waitresses were lovely but the owner was extremely cold and officious and my pasta burned my mouth.. won’t be going...
Read moreI haven’t eaten in Barry for what feels like an eternity. So after sourcing online, I chose this Italian eatery. The restaurant was quite busy and I was politely seated at the rear of the restaurant close to the kitchen. It was certainly where all the action was. The restaurant is quite intimate, nice decor and the ambiance was perfect. The Gypsy Kings sang in Spanish whilst diners enjoyed their Italian food and happily chatted away enjoying the evening.
My servers were Megan & Gracie. Both were very warm, friendly and very professional. Megan was the star of the show, frantically serving the meals and liaising with the clientele effortlessly whilst also displaying a wonderful sense of humour and a contagious smile. I ordered the garlic bread to start. This was a pear shaped naan smothered generously in fresh garlic and butter. It was mouth-wateringly delicious and enough for two.
I drank a glass of house red which was standard, no idea what it was as I never got told. I was sat in the corner of the restaurant facing the wall and the kitchen. Looked like I’d been sent to the back of the classroom for talking during a geography lesson. Had I sat the other side of the table, then I would have been in the way of the waiting staff going to and from the kitchen. I could have gone across on two other small tables as they were now free. To be seated there would have been far more ideal. An oversight from the girls unfortunately.
For the main I chose an Italian classic, spaghetti polpette di carne. This is served with 4 meatballs (beef only) in a garlic marinara sauce. Traditionally cooked with fresh Italian herbs. All made from scratch, served with Pecorino Romano cheese and fresh basil. I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The reviews of this restaurant place it very highly. I recommend you trying it also if you’re in the area. I tipped well to show my gratitude, though staff needed a calculator to...
Read more10/10 experience with staff, food, price and everything! Highly recommend to everyone!
From the moment we arrived, and were greeted by the most lovely and warm person, me and my partner were made to feel so welcome. (It’s at this point I should have started to ask for names, because every single member of staff were brilliant/kind/helpful/all of the positive adjectives.) I honestly have never had such an amazing experience with customer service as I had here.
Service was so quick considering it was peak time on a Saturday (after a wales vs England six nations game as well) and we never went without a full drink or messy table.
Food was impeccable. Our starters of the bruschetta and breaded mozzarella were to die for, we cleared both plates including the side salads! Our mains of the vegan tomato and cannelloni(?) bean pasta, and vegetarian mushroom tagliatelle were phenomenal. The perfect portion to fill you but leave enough for dessert. Didn’t even need any cheese or added seasoning, and they came out of the kitchen piping hot! Lastly our desserts were stunning. The biggest slice of white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, and the most fun brownie with candy floss and sweets topped off our night.
Throughout our evening we were asked if everything was up to a good standard, or if we needed anything, by different members of staff, all who were exceptionally friendly.
And when we paid the bill, the manager engaged us in a delightful conversation about the local area as we are new to Barry. This got two other staff members involved which was lovely.
From the moment we stepped into Paletta Pizzeria we knew we would be returning, we were positive it would become a regular date night!
Thank you to the entire team who made our first date night in Barry, one...
