Food For Thought — Restaurant in Wales

The last time I'd eaten at this place was in 2014/15, while at college nearby. I ordered baguettes from here at every opportunity I had, after having my first baguette with transcendental taste. Coronation chicken was always my go-to back then, and I wasn't surprised when it had sold out by the time I got there today.

I've always respected this place, not just as the best maker of fresh sandwiches I've ever had the pleasure of eating, but also as an active member of the community. This institution of delicatessen brilliance is just as excellent, if not better than it was all those years ago.

Chicken Tikka was my sandwich of choice today, in a baguette just as fresh as the sweetcorn I asked to be added. The staff were both friendly and witty, with excellent levels of service.

I had the Chicken Tikka baguette with added cheese, heated before adding sweetcorn. This was an absolute joy to savour, with elegantly delicate flavours, intermingled into an insanely beautiful offering for anyone to enjoy.

To add, it warmed my heart to see such an institution at the heart of High Street, having served the people of Barry as a community conscious, family owned business since 1983.

My top 3 recommendations for anyone who loves good food at exceptional prices are Chicken Coronation, Lamb & Mint, or Prawn Mayo. All 3 are available year-round, but they also offer Christmas specials for the more adventurous palletes.

On top of that, cheese connoisseurs of refined taste will find a wide selection of Snowdonia Chesse Company flavours that are truly mind-blowing.

Now that I'm lucky enough to be close enough to eat from this pillar of Barry, I'll be gladly indulging at every opportunity I get.

Stopped by while working in Barry for a quick bite to eat, was after a freshly made sandwich that will hit the spot and this place definitely did that!

Ordered a ham, cheese and coleslaw sandwich and 2 cannolis - white chocolate and milk chocolate.

Sandwich was made fresh quality produce filling, ham was flavourful and moist, coleslaw was home made with lots of flavour also. This was exactly what I wanted and it’s what I got!

The cannolis let me down a bit, slightly dry and stale and not much taste imo.

The staff in here were super friendly, fast service and really welcoming!

Nothing bad to say about this spot, not most amazing sandwich’s but perfect homemade style sandwich’s!

The staff are very friendly and professional, and will also have a laugh when you get to know them.

The shop is kept tidy and very presentable with a lot to offer and the prices are really reasonable.

From the times I have been here it has been pretty busy with many people being repeat customers, and they are pretty quick serving people.
