A pretty disappointing stay for one night. Two of us booked in for a one night stay and paid around £90. We didn’t expect a lot for the money and knew that we’d be staying in accommodation above a pub so expected some noise and basic rooms. On arrival we we found a nicely decorated room with enough space for what we needed. We weren’t there long though before realising the poor cleaning that had or hadn’t been carried out. First of all the mini fridge had a half finished bottle of Rose inside from the previous guest, the windows have many decent size cobwebs on the inside which have clearly been there for a long time, but worst of all the shower has a build up of grime across all seals and edges, I say grime because they easily wiped off while in the shower. Pretty disgusting if I’m honest. The room was very dusty to the point that we could write on the lamps, mini fridge and even the floor. We decided to have some food and ordered the Sunday lunch. There was a decent amount of food but found the meat to be very dry and had to ask for more gravy, this was no problem and they helped us with this quickly. Not worth £16.99 though I’m sorry. The WiFi also doesn’t work in the bedroom but there is EE signal so we used our hotspot for the Netflix. Another point is that the sash windows couldn’t be kept open, they can be lifted but fall straight back down which wasn’t ideal in a warm room. On the plus side the hotel was in a decent location, and considering the room was above a pub it was completely silent at night. The shower was powerful and there was a selection of toiletries included. I felt for the lady working the restaurant as I feel she was being let down by her staff. She was apologetic about the issues but at the same time offered no discounts or free drink or desert to compensate for the inconveniences which would have been welcomed. When we checked out nobody could be found in the building so we didn’t have a chance to discuss the cleanliness which we only came to notice at night once we spent enough time in the room.

It's an old school kind of pub. Dark deco & average pub food. We didn't pre-book a table, just strolled in after a long day walking. Found a table - looked at menu & then ordered at the bar (sticky- in need of some drip trays) served quickly (no queue when we went - just good timing as it did fill up quickly after we ordered). X1 pie-chips-peas-gravy. X1 chicken burger and salt & pepper fries (upgrading from regular fries for 50p) X1 J2o X1 pint =£39. odd pence. Just short of £40 for 2 meals & 1 soft drink and 1 alcohol drink. Pie is homemade steak & ale - skins on fries & tinned peas. Gravy was hot -peas were cold & pie was warm. Arrived approx 10 mins after we ordered. Not a recommended place for wheelchair access as there is no access. Pool table was occupied & by time we did get to have a go, it was out of order (also only pay for the game via card attached to the pool table= not sure how much for a game of pool as didn't say). The food was okay after a long day's walk but wouldn't say it was worth what we paid. Also little options for food in Betsy cowyd at least 6 eateries offering same food each a couple quid more or less than the other one. I personally wouldn't eat here again as I found the atmosphere a bit dark & stifling and food to be average. But if you want 'pub grub' for a quick bite to eat & don't mind paying around £20 for a meal & a drink then give it a go.

We came on a Monday evening for dinner. The building looks lovely lit up at night outside - we had high hopes, which were soon to be dashed as we realised this is another under-staffed bar. We ordered quite quickly for a good ranged menu. It took over 45mins for the food to arrive, which came without a smile or apology for the wait. However, the food was good, but nothing spectacular. Perhaps a step up from your average Weatherspoons. Also, the food hygiene rating at the time is still a 2/5 - with the last inspection in 2022. It's a pity that the good food and stunning building was let down by the limited staff during the night.

Honestly I've always had a good experience here, but the shorter bartender was a major problem.. he complained about his working hours constantly, incredibly sarcastic to me and other customers, even when I intentionally was taking it on the chin since like all of us, maybe he's having a bad day or something, he just gradually, openly got worse, till the point where I couldn't pretend to see this as some sort of "oh god this job sucks, I can't wait to finish" kind of joke anymore, it genuinely took me by surprise till the point that I felt conflicted to even fake smile at his remarks.

I really debated leaving a review to avoid coming off as sort of Karen type lol, but my mates are truly shocked by how he was.. this behaviour is not acceptable and needs acknowledging. The guy openly complained and embarassed me about my order being complex besides me explaining it to him clearly (and nicely too! It was such a small drinks order), and then intentionally stares long and hard back at me while shaking his head multiple times throughout the whole interaction of this order, scoffing, smirking, and then finishing with an obnoxious, loud sigh muttering the time he finishes his shift, genuinely unbelievable.

I get you might have had a long day perhaps, but please don't take this out on everyone else. I've worked the exact same job as you in the past and yes I'm empathetic as some days it can purely seem like a slow pay day, but there's no excuse to behave that outwardly negative. Maybe it was some weird attempt at banter, but it really didn't come off as that to myself or anyone else.. big lack of self awareness if you think that is an okay way to behave too.

It sucks but I'm glad to say I've never experienced this bad of an experience with being served even close to similar as here, it's an absolute shame too since the other bartender was a really sociable guy, super friendly! And usually a great pub, but to this person.. please learn some proper people skills or a little restraint, someone in the beer garden overheard me when asking my friend for a second opinion, and this person also joined in with his own negative experience. We were so friendly to you, like...

Arrived at the hotel after a 9 1/2 hour drive to be told that the car park ( side alley to the rear garden) was full and is on a first come first served basis which other guest have taken as they arrived first. We were directed to a pubic car park across the river and had to pay and then move the cars by 8am as we were only allowed to stay in the car park for maximum of 10 hours. The next day I discovered that it was actually staff cars parking in the limited spaces at the pub / hotel and I then requested that they parked one behind the other to allow my small classic car and also my parents in laws small classic car to park there. After some debate this was done for us however it came with caveats that we had to be out early in the morning on the Sunday and also move for the refuse lorry on the Monday morning. The free parking should be removed from the facilities listed as it really does not exist. The room was a very small double, in real need of modernising, the shower was appalling and the door opened onto the bed and should really not pass fire escape route standards. The bed was small and not overly comfortable, and you had to be as fit as a butchers dog to reach the top floor as there is only stairs and no lift. The pub area however was nice and the food was indeed very good. A few times we were not give exactly what we ordered and when we challenge this on one occasion I was to blame even though my wife heard me order and it was confirmed. Disappointing and would not book again. I have give 2 stars as the food was very good when you got what...
