Called in for a quick bite to eat and ordered two breakfasts. It was very busy, and the staff were up front about a short wait. We later heard them telling another customer they were running out of food so a busy little cafe indeed. Our beans were cold but quickly replaced without issue. The hash brown was really undercooked (nearly raw in fact). My egg yolk was solid. No sauces offered or available on the tables (ketchup/brown sauce etc). Good to see some Welsh ingredients including Shirgar butter. Bacon was very tasty. It was all a bit underwhelming, but filled a gap. Could be that we caught it at a bad time. Staff were friendly enough, though nobody did a check-back on our table.
EDIT: I'm editing this as the owners have responded (a little defensively). We didn't eat everything on our plate - we left the undercooked hashbrowns, for starters. We know the industry is struggling, which is why we visit places and eat out as much as we can afford. We did raise the issue with the beans, it just wasn't worth nitpicking over the hashbrowns later when we discovered they were under cooked. My advice would be, take the constructive and polite feedback on board, make an improvement here and there, and you'll be grand - this is a great little cafe with a lot of potential and having worked in the industry we know how hard a job you have. We'll come back in a couple of months to give you another try,...
Read moreWe had a lovely late lunch today and this cafe is a real ‘hidden’ gem in an unassuming side street just a short stroll from Ruthin main square. As the sun was shining we were able to sit outside to enjoy our food. My partner, Peter, ordered an all day breakfast and it didn’t disappoint; so much food, he hasn’t wanted dinner this evening. Highlight for me was the homemade fresh cream and jam Victoria sponge, wonderfully light and...
Read moreDelicious stop. Unplanned visit while ambling through the market town. Scrumptious coffee cake. Grandson had a Biscoff milk shake, he scored it 20 out of 20. Excellent value. Also brought a very reasonably priced brass coffee pot. Sat out on the small area to the front the premises. Such a pretty place to wander about. We were there on a Sunday so it was quite but still...
