Popty Cafe — Restaurant in Wales

In 2021 I loved this place and came weekly (when I gave it a 5* review, now deleted) - I'd say it was the best cafe in Pembrokeshire, but since autumn 2021 it has gone massively downhill. The owners don't work on site anymore, which I guess is why.

Writing in summer 2022, I'd say don't come here, go to Mannings or Gourmet Pig, both a 30 seconds walk.

Staff are fine but not as good. Someone was clearly smoking in the kitchen today, so the whole place stank of cigarette smoke. Was really gross!

Food - the menu has effectively reduced (burgers now only evening take-out, not for lunch), you get less food (don't get a side of chips), and it isn't as good. It can still be good though, and the menu still has the potential to be awesome.

Coffee isn't as good, just not well made.

Seems to be a high staff turnover, so the staff are nice but generally not very good (not all of them though)

We popped in for late afternoon drinks & cake and really enjoyed our visit. The cafe was clean & tidy with a few different tables & chairs including a couple outside. We had coffees & the kids had cold drinks plus we all had cakes. Coffee was really good. So good that we bought a bag of ground coffee to take with us (it's from Capital Roasters in Pembroke Dock). Cakes were good too & the service was friendly & attentive. Nice to see some local soaps & craft stuff for sale and leaflets for local groups. There were also some beautiful photos & art of the local area on the walls, some of which you can buy. Good value, good drinks & food and...

Really lovely little cafe in the centre of Fishguard. Only a couple of tables outside with more seating inside. Had a traditional Welsh breakfast which included cockles!! Yes cockles for breakfast, they complimented the rest of the breakfast which also included thick bacon, black pudding and Welsh oatcake. Was really tasty, I enjoyed every bit.
