Booked a table of 13 for my husbands 30th birthday after being let down elsewhere and I was so thankful you guys could fit us in at a days notice. Arrived at the pub and it was busy and there was other tables around us that seemed irritated we were there and were such a large party which is how the staff would also treat us for the evening. When ordering food at the bar spending over £130 the chef was moaning loudly about such a large order infront of us which was awkward and inappropriate and just plain rude. The food was a mixture of good and bad. Some people enjoyed their meals others didn't, the hunters chicken had no BBQ sauce? and was bland and the chicken was hard. The children complained their chicken nuggets were also hard and dry and cold. The portions overall were very small. I had a stork from a vegetable in my curry about 2 inches long and I almost choked on it. When I brought this to the attention of the supervisor/manager (lady with dark hair in a bun) she offered me another meal, totally pointless as it took ages for anyone to come over, I removed the item obviously and ate my food because it was actually nice. She never apologised or offered to refund for that meal given that there was an object in it that shouldn't have been. She said thanks for that and walked away! I waited for ages for the mango chutney which should have been with the meal my husband asked twice if I could have it, when it arrived it was smaller than a teaspoon worth. The plates were all left on our table when deserts arrived rather annoying so we took them up to the bar ourselves. I asked the same women to confirm my desert was vegan as that desert comes vegan and non vegan she had no idea and said "if you ordered it vegan it should be vegan". I have allergies and just wanted to confirm. Having worked as a waitress before I would confirm that before bringing it out to the customer so I could reassure them! The staff seemed really busy and it was busy but there also seemed to be alot of them so not sure why the service was so slow. Overall I was really disappointed with the rude attitude of the chef and the lady with the brunette bun specifically. I understand working in hospitality is hard work and busy but there is no excuse for treating your customers badly and generally being rude, unhelpful and treated like an inconvenience. I did appreciate the two staff members bringing over my husband's cake and singing happy birthday. Shout out to the blonde staff member who was...
Read moreVery disappointing today. You could tell the manager wasn't about!! My sis and myself ordered the chicken and bacon salad. Now bear in mind we go to the red dragon every other week, nobody's perfect, if we have something wrong it's sorted no worries. Not today. The salad came to the table, bone dry, no dressing/sauce so we had to ask for it. The meal was OK nothing to shout home about, edible. We always have dessert, no crumble today so apple pie and custard, I know I'm being picky but we're paying £4.50 for a little apple pie with about 2 tbs custard, I asked for extra it came in a small bowl which I divided between us both, another 2 tbs. Obvs apple pie had been nuked because pastry was really tough and the fruit in the middle burnt my tongue. Ive actually got a little blister but I'm a big girl I can cope. Anyway bill comes extra £1.50 for 4tbs of effing custard. I was fuming!! I was refusing to pay it but my sister is softer than me and paid it anyway. Like I said it sounds like I'm being picky but the prices of meals are so high at the moment its a treat to go out and I want to enjoy my food and today i didn't. BTW the poor boy who served us had my wrath about paying for the custard but be was told to and didn't deserve that so I...
Read more6 of us visited yesterday for lunch (Saturday). Abnormally quiet for this pub, used to be very popular. Our food was below average, my jacket potato had to be returned as the spud was cold. My son's steak went cold whilst waiting for the peppercorn sauce to the point where I re-ordered the meal in full. My father waited forever for extra gravy for his sausage and mash which never arrived. Needless to say I wanted to speak to the Manager but was told instead that the steak meal and sausage and mash meal would be refunded in full. I do not blame the young girls working front of house, they are the unlucky staff that have to deal with us customers. It's the chefs that produce these low quality meals and present them cold. Like I said before, it wasn't busy there so the kitchen would not have been under pressure. I had booked online a party of 14 of us for Sunday 8th September, needless to say I asked the young lady at the bar to cancel it. I will not be returning to eat here and would not recommend the food. As a bar it's a lovely place to drink, the outside area is pleasant and well kept. It's a real shame as prior to the management being taken over this pub was a delight to dine in with...
