Went here on a Sunday, where most people go for Sunday lunch and to be entertained with some live music. When we visited it was a Country and Western band, who were quite good. The disapointing side of our visit was the drinks. I had a pint of Banks and the wife, a single Orange Gin and lemonade. The Banks was lifeless and the sort you would get if you lived south of Watford. My wife's single Gin, I emphasise single, was drowned by the amount of lemonade that went in it. No head on the beer, a tastless Gin, come on! It doesn't take much to add a slice of Orange, plus a training session on how to pull a handrawn pint with a good head that goes down the glass, maybe a bit of Renovate in the wash would help, and maybe we would come back and the £10 plus we paid for the drinks would be worth it.

Really friendly staff, which is nice as they were all quite young and working on Boxing Day.. Food was much better than I expected seeing some of the recent reviews. Really nice feel to the place. Could maybe do with giving the walls a clean in the dining room part but other than that, it's not major. Really lovely period features. Came to £68.80 for a starter, 3 more expensive mains, 2 puddings, medium wine, 2 teas and a hot chocolate with Bailey's in. Struggle to move the chairs on the carpet so you end up nearly tipping backwards or stumbling when you've started to stand up.. not great for the elderly.. Managed to book this the day before Xmas eve which was lucky as very last minute and every table was reserved when we got in there

I was a little disappointed when visiting today. The staff were welcoming and friendly however the food let it down. The prawn cocktail was bland and watery with basic lettuce, however the bread was lovely. I also had southern fried chicken strips on warm ciabatta with fries. Again, basic lettuce with only 2 small chicken strips which I think were frozen, as well as the fries (apologies if I'm wrong). The children only wanted chicken strips and chips, which they charged us more just to leave out the bread and coleslaw. We were full after our meals but it's not a place I would plan to revisit. Compared to the same dishes at other places I have been to, unfortunately they don't come close.

I called in here yesterday afternoon enquiring about having an evening meal here with my family, 5 of us.. On first impressions it looks a lovely, quaint country cottage type of pub/restaurant just set back slightly from the main road and advertising how they welcome families and dogs. We was spending the day at the Rhos on Sea beach before going back home to the Greater Manchester area so we wanted to make the most of our day on the beach but be able to go for a nice meal before we set off for home. It was relatively quiet when I called in and the young chap who I spoke to said I didn’t need to book a table in advance as there should be no problem getting a table and they serve food till 8pm. I was made up, it looks nice enough inside and the chap made the place look like a friendly welcoming place so we spent the day on the beach and at around 6pm made our way to this place. When we got there it was heaving. It’s only a small place with only a small dining area we could see at this point but it has loads of tables outside. I think way too many tables because they clearly cannot cope with the customers they then end up having especially on such a lovely sunny day as it was yesterday. Despite the fact there is a sign on the road saying ‘come here, we welcome families’ the experience couldn’t have been more unwelcoming. We went inside looking for a table as outside looked heaving, not one person offered any assistance or guidance. We sat ourselves at a table then realised there was a reserved sign on it so we asked at the bar just incase the sign had just been left there after the last occupants or in order to be seated somewhere else instead but was just told abruptly that there’s no space for us in there. Nothing else was offered, no, well you could sit here instead. So we went outside scouting for a table and found one. A bit scruffy but it would do. When my husband went in to order drinks and get a good menu I could see that there was a dining room area full of tables that was completely empty inside. So I sent my daughter in after him to say can we ask to be seated there but before she got to the door of the place her dad was already coming out, he said the woman was really rude saying that we can have food but we have 5 minutes to order it and if not ordered in 5 minutes we can’t have a meal. That’s welcoming families is it? It was only approx 6:25. Besides the fact we I was told earlier they serve food till 8pm. My daughter was with me and she couches for that too. It was definitely 8pm so why now was we being told we only had 5 minutes to order before the end of service at 6:30? Very disappointed in this place after initially getting a good positive vibe earlier that day. It seems to me that the place literally cannot cope with the amounts of customers it’s getting or seems to not understand that if you have a hot day and the beach is busy and then you have about 50 seats outside you are going to get pretty busy pretty quick and therefore you will need t be able to serve all the people you look like you can accommodate. Don’t invite families inf you cannot accommodate them. Why there was a dining area not being used is bizarre and why staff are saying dinner service is on till 8pm if it isn’t is another oddity. I would be berry reluctant to go here unless it’s quiet and not many people are in. If it’s looking busy just turn around and go somewhere else...

Me and my family went here today for a couple of drinks after a heavy day shopping. Had a couple of drinks, all in all couldn't fault the service from the young gentleman at the bar. Would recommend for a drink, especially in the summer as there's ample seating outside. Deciding afterwards to stay for food this is where our experience went downhill and quick. We ordered a sirloin steak, lasagna and beef burger. Once ordering the waiter approached and explained they'd had no sirloin steaks left only rump and asked if that would be suitable - I agreed and he explained they'd reduce the price (£2 off and I could be wrong but I didn't see rump as a choice on the menu which left me confused to why they even had them). Each person was dissapointed with their meal. My steak was cold and the peppercorn sauce was terrible in my opinion really watery and quite bland. So I sent it back in hope it would improve the second time - it didn't - I didn't eat it. Lasagna was dry and quite frankly looked more like chilli con carne, so he sent it back. On arrival the second lasagna looked a lot better, but still so dry that it got to the point that my Grandad couldn't swallow and ended up coughing so much he decided to call it a day on even attempting to eat it. My brother on the other had managed to eat his burger, (that's 1 out of 3 of us I suppose) although to say he enjoyed it would be abit of a stretch. After displaying our concern with the waiter/bar tender (same gent as earlier) he apologised and said he'd speak to the chef again. I went to the bar to pay and once the discount had been applied in regards to having the wrong steak he reduced our check by 25% leaving us to owe £28 not including drinks. Couldn't fault the service provided by the front of house staff but I would definitely not be eating here again nor recommending it's food. Three stars based entirely on the...

Absolutely thrilled with our decision to host our wedding at the Rhos Fynach Tavern! From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of magical. This beautifully restored 12th-century monastery, steeped in history and located just across the road from the beach in Rhos-on-Sea, provided the most enchanting backdrop. We and our guests were captivated by its rustic charm and the stunning coastal views, especially from the lovely upstairs function room. It truly felt like a unique and picturesque venue, making for unforgettable photos and memories.

But what truly made the Rhos Fynach stand out was the incredible team. Justin was instrumental in the planning stages, guiding us with his expertise and ensuring every detail was considered, from the bespoke menu options to the flow of the day. On the day itself, Tony and Kim seamlessly ran everything, ensuring a flawless and stress-free experience. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were evident every step of the way. They listened to all our ideas, offered invaluable suggestions, and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran perfectly. The food was absolutely delicious; our guests couldn't stop talking about how much they enjoyed every dish, and there was certainly plenty to go around! The bar service was efficient and friendly, too.

We felt completely supported and relaxed throughout the entire process, allowing us to truly enjoy every moment of our wedding. If you're looking for a wedding venue that combines breathtaking beauty, a sense of history, exceptional service, and a truly memorable atmosphere, look no further than the Rhos Fynach. We couldn't recommend it...
