I’m not usually one for reviews, but after a rather bad experience here today. I wish to express my views in the hope that others would made a better informed decision than myself today.
Mother-in-law wanted to treat us to a family meal. We chose the Soul Suite upon seeing their menu outside. We were intrigued. We entered and were greeted by a lovely waitress who tended to us and assisted us with our two year old.
Then the downfall, there was no beef, which two of us wanted. Fair enough, we thought. No problem we’ll order something different. I ordered what was ‘steak and Guiness pie with homemade chips and gravy’. When my meal arrived I was astonished. Watery gravy, crinkle cut chips that looked as beige as a Dulux paint sample (and undercooked) and an inedible pie. I didn’t want to judge on looks but when I gave it a try I couldn’t continue. It was tasteless and inedible. My partner called the lovely female waitress over who assured us further, apologised, took the food and went to see if she could assist us further which was appreciated. She returned and asked if I would like something else or a refund, I opted for the refund as by this point my family had finished eating and I rather lost my appetite.
As my partner kindly went to get the refund for my mother-in-law he was then interrogated (or, so it felt like!) by a waiter behind the bar who was issuing the refund. He asked my partner what was wrong, rather than letting my partner finish he kept butting in, said we could have resolved the issue regarding the gravy (yet, they did try to resolve it as they gave me the option of a new meal or a refund, like they were trying to point the blame on us) and apparently the chips haven’t been ‘homemade’ for 9 months and hasn’t even changed the menu! My partner rightly stated that when you are paying for a meal out, you obviously expect what is stated/advertised on the menu.
I feel like the above was a shame, especially when we received such care from the female waitress. I’ve read previous reviews about the poor quality of food (and I wish I had read them before our visit). I hope this establishment makes fair changes for the sake of other paying customers...
Read moreI was recommended to come here for a quick lunch and I was not disappointed! The staff were so friendly and chatty. the music and vibe of the place was perfect for a an afternoon drink and a spot of lunch. I had the cheese and ham toastie and the ham was incredible, the server told us they get it from a local butcher/deli which was a lovely touch! You HAVE to try their homemade chips! Some of the best chips I have had in a long time! overall it was a fab experience from start to finish, couldn't recommend it enough! Will...
Read moreGreat venue for breakfast, brunch and later meals. Good bar selection as well. Staff very friendly. Clean and tidy and reasonably priced. If you grew up in the 60,s and 70,s this place is up your street as the music is fantastic. Been a couple of times now with my old Navy mates and we will be back. Highly recommended....
