So was at Xplore Science Discovery Centre today having an amazing time with Rosie she was playing with everything proper exploring and very fascinated with all there activity tables and experiments they had for all kids to do. There was one activity table Rosie was a bit to small to see so she pulled herself up so she could see what I was doing with it when all of a sudden a male employee marched over to her starts shouting at her that much she backed away from him scared telling her to not climb onto the equipment which she was not climbing on she just pulled herself up so she could see, if I thought she was climbing I would of told her to get down like I do if she is doing wrong which she wasnât doing anything wrong and then carryâs on shouting at her saying itâs already broken and then pointed out the smallest sticker (which I didnât even see) stating it was broken like my 5 year old child could read. If the equipment is broken and they didnât want people using it why is it not taped up or why not inform the adults whatâs broken and whatâs not broken before they go in so we know what they can and canât use. My daughter then got very upset and wanted to leave and as did I as I donât appreciate anyone marching up and shouting in my daughters face especially a stranger and especially a man. I was stood right next to her why not pull me aside and say can you ask your child to not pull herself up on the activity table and I would have told her to get down instead of shouting at my 5 year old little girl and scaring her itâs safe to say I Will definitely not be taking...
   Read moreWhat a fantastic little place! We arrived at 12pm, and only just finished giving everything a good go by 4pm (had lunch as well)
What I am most impressed with is how inclusive they are! Not only do they have a changing places room, with a changing bed and ceiling track hoist, they also have a height adjustable sink and a Gilbert toilet!
They also have sanitary towels and nappies in case anyone needs them
The staff are all super friendly, and more than willing to help if you need help with any of the activities.
Other little things that made a big difference for me;
Lockers: they had plenty of lockers, so I was able to put our lunch box, coats and jumpers in there and not have to worry about lugging them around
Picnics: although they have their own cafe which sells food and drink, they have an entire area full of tables and benches, so you can bring a pack lunch. As someone who has previously had to sneek in a pack lunch because you can't afford the pay for lunch out, this makes a big difference, not having to feel guilty about bringing in your own food.
Only down side for me, I think it would be better if there was an additional price bracket for say people ages 3 to 10? Anyone over the age of 3 has to buy a ticket, now at ÂŁ7 -ÂŁ9 for an adult, that's a great price, but for a 4 year old, that's a little pricey, if you think a family of 3 kids over 3, and 2 parent that's nearly ÂŁ50, which would have been too expensive for us, but as it was just me, my 4 yo and 1 yo, the ÂŁ14...
   Read moreA great concept and a fun and interactive place for the children to enjoy. I imagine most would recommend for small children or young families. Our group ranged from age 1 - 12 with the children, and they all seemed to enjoy it - the 12 year old took more fun in showing the younger children how to use the different stations.
Things that would make it 5 â : Although there is a lot of sanitizer about, no one was using it, and there were plenty of kids and adults with all this hands-on equipment. It was germ-central! Could really do with some dedicated staff to do a clean wipe-down throughout the day. The same could be said for the toilets which were great in their inclusive design, but were dirty and lacking soap and paper. The picnic area with the lockers was great - not a lot of places encourage you to bring your own food, that also offer a cafĂ©. Just a bit of a shame that it wasn't a decent cafĂ©, and everything in there was overpriced, which would be fine if you could get a proper coffee, for example. So close to being a good place to inspire curiosity around the sciences, but it would have been so much better if the scientific principles were explained behind each interactive station. đ§Șđ All that said, it was an enjoyable afternoon spent there as a family, and would...
