We stayed here for 2 nights, had dinner there 1 night and breakfast 2 mornings. Super friendly staff. They can't do enough for you. Great choice at breakfast. (Table service for hot food, help yourself to cereals). Really lovely food..on the dearer end og what we'd normally go for, but certainly worth it. Clean room and bathroom (really soft towels), tea point with biscuits. I felt a little chilly (but I'm always cold, my partner felt fine!). No onside parking, which is a bit inconvenient, but there is a small cheap car park a few doors down from the hotel if you can get into that one. Good location for getting into town but this was a negative in the end for us, as 1 of the nights that we stayed was a Friday. The hotel is right next to a taxi rank, and Friday seems yo be party night in Carmarthen. We heard singing, shouting, banging, fighting outside until about 1am. Totally not the hotel's fault, but something you may want to consider if you want to stay at a weekend and want a peaceful night's sleep. I presume the rooms out the back of the hotel would have been quieter. We'd totally stay here again for a short stay, mid-week in the future.

Coming home from a camping trip with my girlfriend and her colleague, we were all getting to the point of being racenously hungry so we decided to see what we could find in the way of a sunday dinner, we came in to this beautifully appointed hostelry and before I could say anything my girlfriend's colleague had paid for all of us to have their roast beef sunday lunch, whilst we waited a little longer than anticipated it was well worth the wait, the beautifully roast beef came in a portion that was perfect for the larger appetite and was exquisitely laid out with a healthy helping of mashed potato, roast parsnip and carrot, a good spoonful of swede and turnip, accompanied by broccoli and cauliflower cheese, red and white cabbage with a good sized boatful of gravy. Would recommend having a road trip to eat here!

Enjoyed our short stay. Room was clean and tidy. Pillows were a liitle on the firm side, wifi wasn't great and TV was small. But we were out every day exploring the lovely south Wales countryside, so this wasn't an issue. The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned and made up every day. We ate dinner there a couple of times during our stay and the food was delicious and very well presented, lovely atmosphere.

This is an email I wrote to the address on their website. There hasn't been a response:| Almost a year ago my wife and I stayed in a very pleasant room at the Rose & Crown, for the xxxxxxxx Christmas dinner. The meal was truly excellent, so yesterday was the third time I'd been back for a meal and a pint in this pub, which should tell you that I will come back again, even though I live over 30 miles away. I won't. It's hard to understand why I felt that I shouldn't complain that the London Pride was turning to vinegar, my lasagne had been microwave blitzed into a mush, and the salad was soggily drenched in dressing. My wife had ordered triple cooked chips but was served the sort of matchsticks that are to be seen in McDonald's. She was impressed by the vegan spiced burger though. We ate what we had been presented with & I'm amazed that I almost finished the beer. There have been no ill effects other than my sense of dissatisfaction. |The waitress was pleasant and helpful, but clearly wished that she hadn't asked me if everything was ok when I paid. I'm very disappointed, and I think you ought to know why you've lost...
